The weekly dose of hotness.

Jan 19, 2012 22:48

Is it just me, or were the Golden Globes particularly boring this year? Although many of my favourites won, the speeches were just totally 'meh'. Disappointment!

So, Criminal Minds is back from the Christmas break, and Emily & JJ keep on avoiding each other. It's like a conspiracy, although this week, JJ does eye Emily in a fairly peculiar manner. It's not all in my head, I swear!

Things kick off with a random crime conference with Patricia Cornwell as a guest (wtf, she was on for, like, ten seconds). And who on earth threw corn in a well in the past and got himself a name for it?

Anyway, Emily is also looking hot and stylish. And superior. Hot and stylish and superior. As always.

God, I'm SO HAPPY the fringe seems to be gone forever. *knocks on wood*

And speaking of pretty, pretty things, this season is all about the hotness of JJ. I keep saying it, but good Lord, this woman is off-the-charts gorgeous!

OMG, JJ, TAKE ME NOWWWW.

...these recaps always make me come across as a total pervert. Which I totally am, but that's beside the point.

So, the case. It seems like the Zodiac has returned, and everyone's like "OMG, no wai!". And then they fly to San Francisco, the gay capital of the US, which unfortunately doesn't mean we're given a bunch of Emily/JJ scenes to fawn over. Quite the contrary.

Anyway. Since JJ has obviously hijacked Emily's wardrobe this season, it's not surprising that some of the items look just a tad too familiar. I'm convinced Emily has worn this jacket herself:

Seriously. It's like Emily donated everything she owned to JJ after her faked death.

The bad guys this week are a pair of chess geniuses (oh, this show!) with an IQ of 160. I wasn't as bored by the crime aspect this week as I have been during some of the previous episodes. It still wasn't perfect, but at least the unsub was creepy.

This next scene, I find it amusing how insanely long JJ stares at Emily before glancing away.

Seriously, she even squints, like she's desperately trying to figure out why Emily suddenly keeps paring up with everyone but her. We're wondering the same thing, JJ.

Just look how she's gazing at Emily!

Did they have a row or something that morning? Because JJ's eyes are all, "Please talk to me, enough with the silent treatment!" Again, we're with you, JJ.

Next, we get a really sweet scene between Reid and Emily. Emily's such a big sister to Reid, it's adorable! And how anyone sees the relationship between these two as anything other than brother/sister-ly is beyond me.

That being said, I just can't bring myself to care about the identity problems Reid is going through. Just...grow up, dude. I do adore the smug smile Emily's sporting in the end, though.

PWND! Emily: 1. Reid: 0.

The unsub is taunting the police with messages, and our mad skillz profilers decide to follow various leads.

Emily: JJ and I can look for ATM and other surveillance cameras near the newspaper.

YES, YOU CAN INDEED.

Except, it doesn't lead to anything interesting. WHAT A MISSED OPPORTUNITY, WRITERS. I can picture it myself:

JJ: Emily, why aren't you talking to me?
Emily: Not now, JJ.
JJ: Yes, now! I can't work with you like this.
Emily: Well, you should've thought about that when you ditched me yesterday and I had to go to that crime conference alone. With Reid!
JJ: You're right, that was awful of me. I'm sorry.
Emily: It's okay. Wanna make out?
JJ: Thought you'd never ask.

See, writers?? Golden opportunity!

Anyway, where were we? Right, so the two come back empty handed. At least in terms of the case.

Damn, they still look mighty fine together.

The episode ends as they catch the killer(s)--I know, shocking--and the team throws Reid a belated birthday party. Emily's "Otherwise this would've been really awkward!" line is perfect. ♥

Next week: An unsub with a bad taste in music.

Well, that could've been worse. Next week's recap will be a little late, because I WILL BE IN MADRID, Y'ALL. That probably means the episode will be the most femslashiest one ever, though.

Also, R.I.P. Megaupload. I am beyond annoyed.
