I have a cold! \o/
Just my luck, really. I always get it when the first flu wave hits after the summer months. Fortunately, I didn't have any classes today, so I could simply stay at home coughing, sneezing and nursing countless cups of tea.
What's worse, the newest episode of Criminal Minds didn't appear online earlier as I'd assumed it would (lucky Canadians got to see it already yesterday), so not even that ameliorated my foul mood. Me wants more Emily, dammit!
But it wasn't all that disappointing, because what I did get to see was the newest episode of Rush. Yes, despite the odd camera work & a certain subplot of utter annoyance, this show is love. ♥ And I got to play the spot-the-subtext game as well.
Okay, before I say anything else, I have to get the worst fucking storyline in the history of television annoying bit out of the way first.
Stella & Grace. I cannot begin to describe how much I hate storylines of two female co-workers fighting like petulant children. Too many shows, from CSI to now Rush, have exploited the petty stereotype that two women simply can't work together without throwing random hissy fits and getting into cat fights with each other. ENOUGH ALREADY.
Phew, okay then, on to the good stuff.
Gun!hotness. It's fantastic that whatever the episode is like in general, there'll always be some terrific gun action á la teh girls.
Despite the inflation of the whole Grace/Josh storyline during the past few episodes & Grace being an utter bitch to Stella, I'll never get tired of seeing Grace with a gun. It is hot.
Speaking of hotness...
Yeah, no real reason for posting those, I just like to stare at hot women.
Anyway, another thing that I'm completely infatuated with is the sarcastic banter between Kerry and Lawson. Those two are the perfect team (totally platonically, though) even if they don't quite seem to know it yet.
[speaking about animal rights activists]
Lawson: These activists are always über-vegetarians, right? What's so wrong with meat? Killing animals, food's just a natural order of things. They're not as intelligent as us.
Kerry: Yeah, but you're not as intelligent as me, so does that give me the right to eat you?
Kerry, I love you.
It's also very hot when she's being bossy. Stella seems to agree.
[radio convo]
Kerry: Stella, get out of that hospital and get to work. Meet you at the lab.
Stella: Yeah, I'm fifteen off.
Kerry: Yeah, make it ten.
Stella: [grinning & muttering] Bitch.
Maybe that last bit was meant as annoyance, but I'm only capable of seeing the femslashy side of things, so shut up. :p
And while that one was maybe stretching it a little, the scene between Stella & Kerry in the end is so femslashy that you could see it from the moon.
So Stella's digging herself into a deep, deep hole. Her brother's involved in corruption and Stella steals evidence which would expose him (and what happened to that bag of coke/heroine she stole a few weeks ago?). She feels conflicted about this, obviously, and who does she turn to? Well, Kerry of course. <3
The whole scene is full of eye shagging and meaningful glances, which makes me a very happy bunny indeed.
Stella: Have you ever had to deal with someone who's crossed the line? [...] Doing something that you didn't think was right.
Kerry: [ponders] Well, sometimes you gotta look the other way and sometimes you just can't.
Stella: So, how do you decide? [pause] When do you think it's right and when do you think it's not?
Kerry: That's not our job. Our job is to uphold the law.
Stella: [smiles] It'd be easier to look the other way.
Kerry: Yeah, yeah. It is easier. Just not right. [long pause & eye shagging] Gonna tell me?
Stella: *turns away*
Kerry: Look, there's no hypotheticals when it comes to corruption. And if you know something that's not quite right, you've got an obligation to tell me.
Stella: [not very convincingly] Yeah, so if I become aware of anything, I'll let you know.
Kerry: [in a knowing tone] Do.
Both: *looking at each other almost desperately*
This scene is perfection for so many reasons. ♥
Next week Stella & Michael go undercover and the whole thing goes awry (does this sound familiar to anyone else?). Again, the femslashy possibilities are endless.
Non-Canadians (and, well, Canadians as well) who are patiently waiting for the weekly Criminal Minds fix, you should check out the new promo pics for 4x05 while biting your nails in anticipation. Mostly because
omg, it's Emily in red, and there's
a stare & stance of utter superiority, as well as one of
JJ looking quite big.
Can I has the new ep now plz?
