I miss the Olympics. There, I said it. I wasn't enthusiastic about the Games at all in the beginning, but somehow I did nothing but sat in front of the telly like a slob the last few days of the event. I mean, who knew
water polo could be so fascinating? Fascinating and painfully slow.
Anyway. I digress. Unsurprisingly, Norway won the gold in handball on Saturday (yay!), so one, final handball picspam is pretty much required & mandatory. Gro/Katja cuteness continued, which also shouldn't surprise anyone at this point.
Norway KILLED Russia within the first ten minutes of the game. It was incredible; a complete win by a knockout. A ten-goal lead in an Olympic final? Yeah, I couldn't believe it myself.
Norway's defence was impenetrable, and the Russian back players (the backbone of the team) were practically useless. The following picture describes the match perfectly:
See Katja's effective defence method in motion
here. This was probably my favourite moment of the entire match; Katja just picked Polenova, a significantly taller & heavier player, up and threw her to the ground. It was awesome.
Also, I need to point out that Katja looked
incredibly sexy on Saturday. Sexy.
So, the Russians didn't get anything done, Trefilov yelled like a madman (once again), and Norway executed all their fastbreaks with perfect accuracy.
Everything Norway did, they succeeded in it. If the first throw missed,
Gro was there to make sure the second one didn't.
Not surprisingly, Norway won by a mile. They obviously wanted to make sure that there'd be no doubts about which team was better after the South Korea incident. Norway won, and they celebrated accordingly.
Note how Katja & Gro's eyes never stray, even if it's EMS Lybekk who gets to Katja first.
Gro got to carry the Norwegian flag, which was a beautiful sight, even for a non-Norwegian like myself.
While I'm absolutely appalled that apparently no one took photographs of our lovebirds' long hug after the game, I do appreciate the person who managed to snap the following one. Just...perfection!
But omg, yay! First Olympic gold medal for Norway in handball! It was such an amazing tournament to watch.
London 2012, here we come!
In other, completely unrelated news, and speaking of very unfortunate coincidences, Season 16 of Hospital Central (no one seems to know when it'll actually start airing) will begin with a flight accident.
Sound familiar, anyone? Yeah, umm... Apparently, the episode is already so far into the production that it's impossible to change the plot now. Creepy.
Earlier today I realised that in exactly a months time I'll be heading abroad. Finally. HELP.
