Argh, behind as usual.
Day 9: Delayed until I stop being made of fail. Yay?
Day 10
In your own space, talk about a creator. Show us why you think they are amazing. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
Well, I have previously sung the praises of
lady_oneiros and
sakon76, so...um...today let's talk about
anon_decepticon!
I was introduced to her work via
After Atlantis, which began with a premise that I always thought deserved detailed examination. (I think a lot of people are familiar with the piece, but if not, warning for NON-CON and all the aftereffects thereof.) This fandom offers quite a selection of fic that deals with rape, but not a lot of fic that acknowledges and explores the long-lasting physical, mental and emotional trauma of the victim.
anon_decepticon directly addresses all of those uncomfortable aspects of recovery from an assault, and yet her narrative never reduces Wheeljack to a pitiable wreck or a broken shell. This fic is not about hurt/comfort--it is about Wheeljack relearning himself after that self has been taken from him. The end result is beautifully, masterfully cathartic.
I've read everything this author has written and loved it all, but I especially recommend her epic series dealing with Skywarp, Thundercracker, and the difficulties of maintaining a committed relationship in the midst of Megatron's Decepticon army. All the interrelated fics are linked
here, in the final part of the concluding fic. This is gorgeous sex, of course, but far more than that, it offers a detailed narrative of past trauma both acknowledged and overcome in the context of a present relationship. Without delving into personal information, I can just say that it gives me deep and lasting hope.
Choosing one person was almost impossible, so let me finish by additionally listing
kookaburra1701,
nkfloofiepoof,
zuzeca, and
piscaria as authors that I consistently adore. For art, I always stalk
spacehussy as well. ♥
Day 11
In your own space, ask for recs. Something as simple as "I like XYZ (where XYZ is a kink, a pairing, a trope, etc) - please rec me some."
Err, well, let's see. I think everything I posted above reveals how much I like situations where characters overcome emotional and sexual problems. ^^; I think what I would really adore is some fic where two characters work around problems of sexual or even emotional incompatibility. So often, everything works out perfectly once a pair falls into bed together (I'm pretty guilty of that in my own writing). I would love to see the characters creatively work things out. Admittedly, I would prefer they do that without resorting to holos, but I'll read anything that's well-written. :3
