The spoiler trolls are at it again already, and I'm being truly paranoid this time around, after being spoiled for HBP on a music community, of all places. So in the next couple of days, I'll be cutting a few communities and only watching a very few that I know have moderated membership and/or posting. I'm too busy at present to do more than that

People don't even need to defriend any comms (or personal journals either). Really, all anyone needs to do is set up a custom friends group and name it Default View. Whenever you click to see your friends view, the Default is what you'll get. I went in and removed all unmoderated comms from my default friends view until after the release. I have only personal journals and a few comms now - most of the latter being non HP comms. The key and main downfall, of course, is that you have to make sure you're logged in to LJ when you click for your friends page. But to me, it's a lot better than defriending and leaving comms. I can add them back to my viewing list at my leisure without having to go to the actual comms and rejoin/refriend.

I don't blame you for wanting to be spoiler-free. Trolls like that suck.

Ooh, thank you for that - I had no idea you could modify your default friends view! I'll be fiddling with that over the next day or so.

Re the non HP comms - I'm sure you know this, but you still need to be careful. I was spoiled for HBP on a Pulp LJ community.

any other non-HP fandom or fanfic comm should be put on the default list, too, I'd suspect. I don't blame you. I'm pretty adamant about remaining spoiler-free as well.

I managed to stay spoiler-free for HBP, but I wasn't watching many communities then. Hmm, will have to think about that. I also think I'll put quinquatrus on moderated posting, not that it gets many posts anyway.

Thanks for considering moderated posting for quinquatrus. I sincerely hope that community mods don't end up getting spoiled because they've taken the initiative to create something good for fandom.
