While I've been dashing around trying to roll up my life,
takingitinturns has been rolling along, producing lots of lovely Harry/Ginny fic for us all.
1. My gift is
here and it's fabulous:
One Small Difference, by
snuggle_muggle, PG-13, 9,600 words.
Ginny wakes up in a world in which everything is different. Instead of being married to Harry and pregnant with their third child, she is in a place where Harry has been dead for years and Death Eaters are running the country. Trying to figure out what's happened, she realises that it comes down to one small difference in her own life.
The worldbuilding is very strong in this alternate universe;
snuggle_muggle paints a dark picture with a few deft brushstrokes, but it isn't all dark. Certain Weasleys are no longer dead, for example. The author does a great job of showing Ginny's conflicted emotions as she tries to navigate this new world and find her way back to the old one.
I loved it, and it's a great read.
2. Oh, and I wrote a story, too:
The Affair of the Wedding, PG, 3,000 words, in which Lily's wedding to Scorpius is bringing the Potters and the Malfoys together whether they like it or not. I had fun with this and I hope you do, too, if you read. :)
3. Also, a quick rec for a story that was posted right at the beginning of the fest and was perhaps a little overlooked for that reason:
They Tell Me by
luna_plath, R, 1,800 words. Author's summary: He’d brushed his fingers over her spine, lightly touching her naked back, thinking that maybe this was what people called closure.
This is a gorgeous take on a postwar Harry who is healing but not quite there (if he ever will be). It's quiet, a little sad but also hopefull, and the way
luna_plath portrays the relationship between Harry and Ginny is just beautiful.
4. I'm going on holiday this evening. Anyone want to throw me some recs for stuff I can put on my kindle? Preferably posted on AO3 (for ease of conversion); the longer and plottier the better. :)
