*cough* Er, I'm not sure if anyone will be interested in this, but I thought I might offer my fic-writing services in aid of the bushfire appeals in Victoria.
My offers
1: Up to five ficlets Ficlets (100-500 words) for $5 each (AUD, equivalent to about £2.30 or just over USD 3). Will be completed by the end of April 2009. I'll keep accepting these until I feel I can't manage any more in the time limit.
2: One full-length story, 4,000 words minimum. Most of my HP stories tend to be closer to 10,000 words than 4,000, but stories in other fandoms may be shorter. This story will go to the highest bidder at 12 midday on Saturday 21 February (starting bid AUD 10). It will be finished by the end of April 2009.
(Eek, I feel ridiculously pretentious typing that. I don't know whether this will raise any money, but even a little would be wonderful.)
Fandoms: Harry Potter, Young Wizards series, Lord Peter Wimsey, the Anne of Green Gables books, Sadler's Wells series, The Book Thief, His Dark Materials; I might also be persuaded to do something for Discworld or The Dark is Rising.
Most of you know the kind of things I write: I'm happy with either gen or romance, and am best at angst, character studies and sometimes plot - but I'll have a shot at anything in this case. My writing can be found under the
fic tag at my journal.
If you win the auction or request a ficlet, I will ask you to donate the funds to any legitimate organisation currently collecting funds for bushfire relief in Victoria and email me a receipt. Then we can discuss the request/what you want from the story.
To keep things simple, please bid in Australian dollars.

ETA2: All offers now closed. Thank you to everyone who donated, especially
werewolfsfan for an amazingly generous donation to the Australian Red Cross! Now to get writing.
