Discovered something disconcerting a few moments ago. I was lamenting to my friend today about how I didn't find Gackt's character in DoC, and
she asked if I had found the random soldier on the Sierra that was talking about someone named G. I had, but I didn't do anything about it, so I decided to go back and replay that part. Alas, it didn't do anything. It simply reminded me that there is a character named G and that he had something to do with what was going in a spoily-type way.
Then I started from another section reading these files (hah, reading! as if I could read that much kanji) that Vincent picks up along the way, and I realized I hadn't gotten them all because there were blank spaces left. So I went back to the place I started picking them up, but I couldn't find anymore than the three original ones.
Thinking there must be more files somewhere, I Googled it, and sure enough, there are more files, 3 to be exact, called the G Report, that you can only pick up if you do the optional mission things on the way to the last battle (well, several hours before you can get to it, but still) that are really hard and take a long time and that I actually didn't know were there. So I have to go back to where the game actually starts to become difficult and start picking them up to get the extra ending that I was actually expecting to be in the game randomly at another point. (G's costume looks surprisingly like that of another character that we see at one point, but he never got a cinematic...the voice was completely different, though.)
I looked at Google once more, just out of curiosity, and sure enough, someone had posted a very low resolution video of it on YouTube. It changes the entire outcome of the game, and I'm now going to *have* to replay from the middle of the game so that I can see the better quality version.
The only disappointment I had was that he is not CG. In the original trailer everyone saw for it, he totally looked CG-ed, but in the tasty Squaresoft way. However, he was quite real...Thankfully, everything else looked quite real as well, so it was acceptable.
Anyway, there goes another 8 hours of my life soon...At least I don't have to start the game over on hard mode like we orginally thought...
