hee, to add to this. When I say that Billy can't move on from Joe, it's more in that way where they're always tied to one another. Billy isn't going to *forget* Joe, which is what I think Joe worries about. Billy can't move on because it's just a fact of life. He's been friends with Joe all these years, and you can't just forget that kind of thing, no matter how much Joe might piss him off or smother him.
Oh, this is very true. But I don't think that'd be enough for Joe either. Billy's still *gone*. *sigh* Poor Joe. He's just never going to be satisfied.

I have thougt So. Much. about Billy. I have lots of thoughts about Billy. Er. Well, those kind too.
Okay, so huh, maybe you're saying that Billy used Joe in that way through ommission rather than out and out subversion?Yes, actually. That's just what I'm saying.(I read somewhere once that Noel Baker the screenwriter originally conceived of Billy as even more of an asshole than Callum wanted to play him. Maybe that's colored my interpretation somewhat.) I don't think Billy's above doing a lot of things to get what he wants (especially if we throw in the interpretation that suggests he made a deal with the devil. That's *ambition* man), and if it means using Joe then he will. I think he'd be sorry to hurt him, but he'd do it anyway. But in this case I think he saw Joe as the closest way to get what he wanted and went for it. And then when Jenifur ended up coming through after all, that became the closest way to get what he wanted
