( The front hall of A’dal High was packed with long tables, elaborate displays and excitable students. Pre-prom frenzy was at its height, and the school took advantage of everyone’s attention each year by scheduling Club Day during the same week.

Clubs fostered community spirit and personal agency, so Adrasteius largely approved of them, unless they promoted undesirable tendencies, like vapidity and violence. He sneered as he stood before the harbingers of these twin evils: the recruitment tables for the cheerleading and football teams, staffed by Aurelius, Raliam, Mephest and the Dawnblade sisters, along with an assortment of other morally and mentally bankrupt charlatans. )

( A football struck Adrasteius in the head as he walked into his house. Groaning, he doubled over and stumbled back against the wall as pain shot from his brain to his toes. His vision blurred and he hissed, “Goddammit, Aurelius. You’re going to give me a concussion!”

“Concussions are a sign that you’re a man,” Aurelius said. )

Since WraNet is still down and Ms altanachan wants it around to read, I'm going to post what I've written of my Warcraft HS AU. Like with the last one I posted many moons ago, it's assumed to be a modern, relatively peaceful and integrated era.

It creates enormous social pressures for the marginalized and the mainstream alike, it engenders competition among friends when selecting partners rather than fostering the essential spirit of brother and sisterhood that is required for the progress of cultures and nations, and, furthermore, every single fucking year the theme is about stars.” )

Took a break from contest-story to type up another thing that I had finished in a notebook, a short piece about the first time Aurelius met Eulalia. He was ten years old :x

This is not a Warcraft story, but it is? It's a modern high school AU, basically. They're still on Azeroth, and they're still blood elves, but the sensibility is meant to reflect a more current culture.
