So, I have been a LJ poster for about a month now- it is cool and all, but I have yet to figure it all out.... I haven't posted for a while, partially because LJ slipped my mind, but partially because I guess I haven't discovered all of LJs coolness. Maybe Dani will sit down with me and show me all the perks...............
So yes, Dani is a master furniture mover (thanks for helping with the couch girl!)
my trials with the concept of air conditioning in a 2.5 story house have finally subsided. For all those who do not know me well, or have not been to my house, I live in a (duh) 2.5 story apartment that has no central air conditioning. Of course, it was just our luck that all of a sudden mother nature decided to dump 80 degree weather on us and our brick oven apartment. We currently have 3 window ac units, but bedore I get ahead of myself, let me say that we just installed the third today. Before that, one ac is in the living room (on the second floor) and one is in our bedroom window (also on the second floor). Our bedroom is 2 stories on its own, and so the ac unit would not reach up to our sleeping pad in the bedroom- WE WERE ROASTING! 2 nights ago we had to sleep in the living room (of course, since I am the loving wife to be, I insisted my girl take the couch and I slept in an armchair (ouch!). Anyways, realized that we would never be cool at night unless i took matters into my own hands. I decided that the only way to make our ac reach up to where we sleep was to force it there. So the other day I went to the store and bought some duct piping. I rigged it up to my ac and strung 20 feet of ugly white duct pipe up my wall to the sleeping pad. I turned on the ac and viola! we had cold air upstairs! Unfortunately, the cold air sank and we were miserable all night again. So today I had this ingenious idea to enclose our upper sleeping pad with plastic- like a room inside a room! (or like the boy in a plastic bubble would be more accurate!) I stapled huge sheets of platic all around our pad and ran the pipe inside of it. Cross your fingers that it works!!! Ok, I am talking peoples ears off... goodnight moon!
