Strange fascinations.

"My mother only talks about nonsense. And her friend, the same! She's on the phone asking for Hallmark to find her a somewhat romantic musical Christmas card for her husband. Hahaha. Out of control."

That's as far as I got into my post during the holiday proper. But it was funny; I was always thinking about posting while I was home. Now I'm back in SF and have been for nearly two weeks and updating is an occasional passing thought.

I even missed my annual year-end round up, which I always love to do. At the beginning of the year, I was freelancing for 7x7, which stopped abruptly. I was also working at Starbucks Sutter & Powell, and have since been transferred to Kearny & Bush, still as a shift supervisor. I continue to excel as a shift, but apparently am still not ready to become an assistant. So you'll see that in my goals for 2010, I've removed any expectations for my career with Starbucks. I'm letting things just progress as they do there, and I'm not going to allow myself to get worked up about coffee. So here we go, a little late this year:

  • Continue my financial responsibility. Near the beginning of 2009, I trashed all of my credit cards... a pretty difficult task. Debt was getting overwhelming, and it was the only way to manage it. I'm living in my means for the first time since I started college.
  • Expand performing to more venues. I've had new collaborations last year, and also performed nearly once a week either in a group or solo-style. Now it's stepping up my dance game and performing in more drag venues.
  • Be more active. There's talk of Ellen getting a new bike, and I'll inherit her old one. The more I think about it, the more I want it. It would be nice going for bike rides with the wife, and enjoying San Francisco from another point of view.
  • Bust ass at The Owl. Things are a'changing. We've got some new blood on board and we're restructuring and getting organized to really push the magazine forward in 2010. Right now it's all about prioritizing my time, but I'm reinvigorated about my role in the publication. I've even bought an iPhone to step up my professional game.

Ellen got some pretty sad work news this week, which boils down to her taking a major pay cut to work at the business six days a week (from five). Things are going to be a little difficult, but it can really only get better. She's going to be exhausted, though.

(In way better news...) In the past couple of weeks Honey Penny, a local Bowie aficionado - we both have Bowie tattoos - have been circulating our new number to "Changes." It involve six Bowie costumes, oh yes. And I've got some of my favorite photos here...
