One good reason for keeping up with what your kids are into:
I went to pick up the Kindergarten hobbit from school yesterday and on the way home he keeps talking about a kid named Shane getting hit on the head in the bathroom. So this concerns me more than a little bit because now I'm worried about some little kid getting beat up in the bathroom at school. I can't get anything else out of him that makes sense though.
So today after I got him from school, Kim and I start quizzing him about it. We're still getting nothing more. Finally Kim says "draw me a picture of what happened to Shane". So he starts drawing a picture. He makes Shane and then he makes what sounds like "Queen" wtf? and makes a "thing" in Queen's hand that she hit Shane with.
Then he says "Ok, now I'm gonna draw Jimmy" At this point,something far in the back of my brain starts to say "Could he be talking about a cartoon?" because it's starting to sound vaguely familiar...
Next he says "Ok, now I'm gonna draw Carl" and starts drawing this fat little person on skinny legs. EUREKA!!!! Now I'm almost certain - he's not talking about some poor little kid getting beat up at school - he's talking about A JIMMY NEUTRON EPISODE! I had to verify though so I asked him "Did this happen on TV or in real life?" His answer: "On TV" Me: "Jimmy Neutron?" Him: "yeah" It was "Sheen" not Shane....
I'm so frigging glad I didn't write a note to his teacher. I'd have looked like a complete and utter moron. *dies*
