Vacation....Aaaaahhhhh

I really do love my husband. He decided about a month or so ago that I really needed a break to get away from all the home and mommy stuff. I'm sure it had nothing to do with the idea that I might have been headed for a mental institution *giggle*

Anyway, I got a plane ticket to go out to Colorado Springs to stay with my cousins and see my mom's family. They have been spoiling me rotten. I may never go home. Yesterday we spent all day at the Country Club of Colorado sitting by the pool. The club is right at the foot of Cheyenne Mountain and has an AWESOME veiw of the mountains. I got rather lobsterish, even with the SP40 sunscreen (gotta love those Nordic genes which gave me the skin color of a bleached sheet) but it was worth it.

Last night we went to a rather interesting place for dinner. I'm a huge Stargate SG1 fan and the series takes place at Cheyenne Mountain. In one episode, three of the main characters sneak off base to a local bar and grill to have steak. That bar and grill is based on a REAL one (same name and everything) and I found it and wanted to go eat there.

So my good natured cousin and I got into the car and went in search of it. On the way there, she remembered another cousin telling her that there was a place out that way that had GREAT steaks but was kind of rough and you shouldn't go there without a large male escort to fend off the riff raff. So we were a smidge nervous it might be the same place. She called the cousin to find out for sure if it was the same place but couldn't reach them and had to leave a message. So we decided to go check it out and decided after we got there if we'd go in or not.

We got there and it did look rather interesting from the outside but there was a group of people sitting outside on the patio eating and they had a small child with them so we figured it might be ok after all. We found a parking place and went in.

We had been in the door less than 10 seconds when some older man tried to get us to sit with him at his table. He was REALLY insistent and it made us uncomfortable so we told him we were going to eat outside and went back out to look for a table. There weren't any...so we had to go back in. We ducked around a corner and sat at another table.

We ordered steaks and beers and learned it was a "grill your own steak" place. So we went along to the grill and grilled our steaks. We noticed the people that worked there were all wearing green shirts and remembered that the man who tried to get us to sit at his table was wearing one. We started to wonder if he had been the owner and we had been rude to him. After they were done and we had just started eating, he reappeared at our table and started talking to us again. I noticed the label on his shirt DIDN'T match the ones the rest of the employees were wearing so it was kind of a relief to know we could just push him away without worrying about being rude.

He was STILL trying to pick us up. He started telling us our steaks looked good and he wasn't having steak that night and blah blah blah. We kind of ignored him or gave short one word answers and he finally got the hint and left us alone.

All in all, it was a fun night. The bar was quite "interesting" (for lack of a better term) and it was a little on the rough side but we didn't feel unsafe really. My cousin took a picture of me outside by the sign (O'Malley's fyi for anyone who reads this who is an SG1 fan).

I'll write more later so I don't completely overwhelm friends lists with this long post *EG*
