Science and pseudoscience?

My landlady doesn't agree with vaccinations. I'm very wary when I hear people don't agree with vaccinations but at least she didn't mention autism. I tried to keep an open mind and research what she said later. I found it's true measles and some other childhood diseases are unlikely to kill children in developed countries where health is generally good. She thinks in the end (as long as you survive of course) being sick is good for you because it makes your immune system stronger in the future.
I don't think Western Medicine has all the answers. I think it sucks at dealing with illness that has to do with the mind. And we are lacking an understanding of how mind and body influence each other. And there's science that isn't publicized and methods that aren't studied. Apparently changing what people eat and greatly increasing intake of certain vitamins can affect cancer. BUT I also trust a double blind study with a control group and a non-control group more than what one person has felt or observed.
