It wasn’t until the water transitioned to that ice cold temperature that he realized just how oblivious he’d wished he was.
He didn’t even remember how he ended up in the shower in the first place, water trickling down to wash away his troubles. When had he started to tremble like a lost child? When had his frown felt like an ugly spectacle on his tired face?
He didn’t want to believe that ignorance was the only key to pure bliss, but it was hard not to when he wanted to forget.
All he ever wanted to do was forget.
