They said one thing, they said another; in the end, explanations were meant to be harshly exaggerated and nastily manipulated because we're selfish. It was all artificial. Every word spoken, every step taken, every misused smile. Nothing was real, right? Nothing was important anymore, was it? Nothing was worth treasuring, huh? Because it sure seemed that way.
There wasn't a good reason for any of this to have happened, but since when did things go his way? He couldn't remember. He couldn't remember because he's always been a passive human being and he was bored with everything and he didn't care that much about his life because he didn't know what to do with his life. There were many instances when he has thought about doing something spontaneous, maybe making the most out of nothing.
If that was even possible.
"Hey."
"Yes, dear?"
"Never mind," Yutaka said, not hesitating at all when he playfully punched Yuu in the arm. His usual irritation level almost reached its fragile limit, but his distant mindset spoke of something else altogether. "Stop switching the channel, butthead. I'm going to get a headache if you don't. And quite staring at me like I'm some kind of smelly fish."
"What's wrong, cupcake? C'mon, you can talk to me," Yuu smoothly replied, finally settling on a cooking channel. He raised an eyebrow, gradually inching closer to the younger man, and eyeing him closely. A facial expression tainted with worry made a sudden appearance, his usually care-free attitude thrown out the door for the night to own.
"Now add a cup of sugar..."
Yutaka gazed into the other's dark brown eyes, defined by genuity and sorrow, anxiety and care.
He couldn't be more thankful to have someone like him around. Because with him, nothing can go wrong and all that sadness was bound to find another heart to play with. Yutaka almost laughed when he thought about this. He decided to keep it a sweet secret he'll tell Yuu someday.
"It's fine. There's nothing to worry about anymore," Yutaka answered, yawning and nestling close to the older man. A rare smile threatened to break free. A rare smile that was caused by the person sitting comfortably next to him.
"If you say so, then," Yuu replied, wrapping an arm around the younger man.
A gentle kiss sealed how their night would turn out.
"A teaspoon of coca will bring out the hidden sweetness..."
