A Dance With Rogues

I friggin love the Neverwinter Nights module A Dance with Rogues (Part I and Part II). It's an adults-only game made for those who don't mind (and in fact welcome) mature themes. It's a well-written game imho, populated by believable characters who you'd either love or hate (sometimes both) with a passion.

I think you can determine whether you can stomach this kind of game or not based on the opening scenes. You play a princess who's fleeing from enemy soldiers, and the man who saves you, Vico, ends up forcing himself on you. Eventually you begin your new life as part of "The Family", a criminal organisation of thieves and assassins, so having some Rogue skills are essential. You get thru the different quests by using your skills, your wits or your body - the game doesn't reward you much XP when you kill.

Anyway I'm digging the interaction of your PC with the different romanceable characters. There's Anden, the goody goody ranger. While I found him endearing at first (he's quite shy when it comes to women and is ever the gentleman), he soon becomes annoying when he berates the princess for doing evil deeds (my princess is chaotic evil after all heh).

There's the bard Pia, who I figured might be the best bet for my princess (heck after encountering a lot of lecherous men, I think a woman is just what the princess needed) but I quickly became irritated with her because she dies. A lot.

Then there's Bran the barbarian. He's honorable and quite the naughty boy... I'm sure he and the princess would've gotten along well had she been a good character - which she isn't (at least in my first play through).

Finally there's Vico. Yes, even when he did rape you he's a possible romanceable character. Rest assured, he won't be raping the princess again - his boss forbids it. But that doesn't stop him from making advances and lecherous comments towards the princess. He's not an appealing romanceable character, that's for sure. He's evil and quite possessive of the princess - whenever he senses that a guy is interested in her he threatens to kill the other guy (and he's the kind of guy who'll make good on his threat).

As much as he's an asshole though, I found his one-liners and naughty comments amusing. And he did have some endearing qualities that indicate that he does care for the princess: he comes to her rescue when a guy takes advantage of her during one of her solo missions, revealing that he had been looking out for her all along; and he's the only henchman who refuses to part ways with you - believe me, there's NO way to get rid of him except maybe when you let him die in combat. Which is tough because he can't be killed easily. Which is a good thing.

Anyway, I ended up not hating his character. It was then that I realised that his might be a viable romance after all. Once I decided that my princess can go ahead with the Vico romance... HO SHIT. Their first consensual sex encounter is pretty damn HOT. I'm blushing now just remembering what I read. And they don't just do it once. She and Vico can have sex lots of times and the erotic scenes are always different. I think the game author purposefully wrote the majority of highly erotic scenes with Vico because I've never felt all hot and bothered with the other sex scenes in the game. It's really only the ones with Vico that leave me blushing like a Catholic school girl. My princess is now a sex addict with Vico I think haha.

I still have to finish the game, but I'm definitely going to play it again. I'll see if my new princess can do the Bran romance, that is unless she'd get distracted with Vico haha.

Anyway, I highly recommend this module. Download it now!
