This was going to be a long, amusing tale about one girl's whirlwind long weekend. As 'this' weekend became 'last' weekend, I opted for the shorter, prompter version. (Aren't you proud of me, Tith?)
Then, LJ ATE it. Froze entirely as I was trying to include a link, so I couldn't even see the post to copy it. Grr.
So, I'm trying again. No promises about length or entertainment factor. Because I'm cranky now.
Friday night after work, I met up with Malefi, and we headed to her place for dinner, giggles, and colouring of hair and nails while watching various YouTube videos and Queer as Folk. The ever-gracious
phoenix_writing even agreed to look in on the Sasha monster, so I didn't have to worry about getting home, and it was a very fun way to end the week.
Saturday was one of those days when everything seems to take six times longer than you expect it to take, so Malefi and I set out to do errands but managed to complete very few of them. We did stop to show my parents Mal's hair (I dyed her bangs a gorgeously violent shade of blood red), and we had a very nice visit.
We had dinner in the market with
phoenix_writing and her mom, and both the food and the conversation were altogether enjoyable. I may need to have a Death Salon, though. Or some other theme of Salon. Because it sounds like fun. Tith, when are you back? You're sort of required, I think, for that sort of thing.
Afterwards, we met up with Tith's sis to see
Conservatives in Love, "a modern-day farce that pokes fun at the right, the left, and the 'sluttish center.'" It was very entertaining, well-scripted and well-acted. Margo MacDonald, was, of course, excellent in her portrayal of both the dominatrixy Conservative looking for the doormat lover who will make her life complete and the perfume counter girl turned wannabe entrepreneur who suffers from
anosmia. The latter character was particularly amusing, as she sounded like she'd been learning about BPAL from Tith. :)
Malefi had discovered that her polling station was at the local Catholic Church, which was only a couple of blocks from her house, so we attended on Sunday -- partly to know where it is and partly to see if it was a likely Christmas service venue. (Highly unlikely, though the congregation seems nice and the building is pretty.) Brunch afterwards was very yummy, at a cute little diner (cleverly called 'The Diner'), followed by the trip out to my parents' for Thanksgiving dinner. So yummy, so full, so grateful.
We also watched
Enough (J.Lo. and some other people), which wasn't bad. Very
Sleeping with the Enemy with less romance and more corruption.
Monday was very low key: I slept, tried to appease the very offended Sasha, had a lovely lunch with Phoenix, re-dyed Malefi's hair so it was work appropriate, and remembered to pack my voter card so I could vote directly after work.
Then, back to work and an entirely useless election *pout*
