Have finished Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens. It's quite different from the other ones I've read (A Christmas Carol, Great Expectations and David Copperfield.) Definitely contains less meandering than David Copperfield (I suspect everything contains less meandering than David Copperfield!)
