Netflix movie
My Blueberry Nights (2007)
Writers: Kar-Wai Wong, Lawrence Block/Director: Kar-Wai Wong
The female lead was, of all people, Norah Jones. I’m not a big fan; I find her one of those singers who so loves her own voice that other listeners are superfluous. YMMV. She pretty much a blank faced actress but then her character is much developed.
In reading about Kar-Wai Wong I found that a lot of people admired his Hong Kong movies and were disappointed in this one. The actors were fine (Jude Law, Rachel Weisz, David Strathairn) but the characters and plot were hackneyed.
Well, that last week was one I wouldn’t like to repeat. I’m trying to find someplace to move. I’ve given up on Oregon for now. It’s too hard to leave an old cat, lively though he is, who needs medicine twice a day to spend time the time needed to find a place I can afford that takes two cats. So I looked close to home, about 4 hours north.
I went to see a mobile home and it wasn’t perfect but it would do. Close to a great supermarket I could walk to with a Peet’s coffee cafe inside. It gets hella hot there in summer but the rent is half of what I pay. I’ll buy air conditioning.
So I told the agent I wanted to make an offer. This place had been on the market for over 70 days and I don’t think anybody offered on it. So the day after I said I’d buy it some random guy stop by the house and talks to the old guy who owns it and he buys it off him. The agent was distraught. I was very, very sad.
I haven’t been taking very good care of the mobile I live in now. There are so many things wrong with it that’s not worth putting money into it. But now I have to because management is on me to fix it up, instead of demolishing it as I planned.
I think this happened because everything I touch turns to crap.
Also, I took other cat to the vets to get vaccinated and had some blood work done. He has kidney problems. I got a vet I hadn’t had before. I didn’t like her and I think she returned the compliment. So she said the test results would be ready on Friday; it’s Monday and I haven’t heard a thing.
