I WON APE!!!
IT WAS SO FREAKING AMAZING!
okay, before i start foaming at the mouth, lemme boil it down for ya:
Friday
- flight down to San Fran was nice, had a window seat ;D
- San Fran was warm! Sweaters were totally not needed
- Found a book on BART
- Fedex printers were right across the street from the hotel, and the staff liked my comic!
- The Disney Family Museum is the most amazing place on earth. No joke.
- Our hotel had nice beds
Saturday
- Turns out there was a Whole Foods on the way to APE. we stopped to have breakfast, but i didn't eat much (too many butterflies).
- Got to APE early, tried to be zen.
- once APE opened up, my mom and I took a lap before she settled in to knit by the concession stand.
- Gave copies of my comic to Matt Boyd (Three Panel Soul), Evan Dahm (Rice Boy), Jamaica Dyer (Weird Fishes), Meredith Gran (Octopus Pie), Dean Haspiel, and many other people who's business cards I have yet to dig out of my bag (I still love you all though!)
- Bought more books, including the second volume of Octopus Pie xD
- Went to the Queer Panel, which was Hilarious and Entertaining, as well as Informative! I even asked a question of the panel, which had to do with the creation of my GN (so i'll tell you about it when its pertinent)
- Had to do a second printing! The ladies at the Fedex store were so awesome!
- my mom joined me for the "Personal Stories" panel, which wasn't as awesome as the Queer panel (but what would be?), but still informative.
- By then we were pretty worn out, so we headed back
Saturday Night
- Grabbed dinner at Whole foods again
- Washed up and prettifyed myself before heading over to the after party at Isotope.
- Got to the party early (of course), but talked with a lot of cool people! I handed out a bunch more copies of my GN as well~
- Drunk/high cartoonists are an interesting group of people.
- Watched the Isotope Mini-comic award be given out. It is indeed a rather dangerous award!
- I made a pact with a guy that had entered this year that we would take it by storm next year! (I'm looking at you, Greg!)
Sunday
- I woke up so hyper. oh heavens be.
- printed out even more copies of my GN
- ate at whole foods for bfast again <3
- Saw a lot of people from the Isotope party! it was really nice~
- Go even more feedback! talked to Matt Boyd again (i kinda wanted to hug him), and he had some good criticism! thanks Matt! <3
- Handed out even more copies of my GN, and got even more free stuff in return!
- Went to Trader Joe's for lunch. It was also a lot colder out by then...
- Went to the Webcomics panel, which was sorta cool, but reiterated a lot of things i kinda already knew.
- Did one last lap around the con floor, then pretty much felt like falling over. Snagged a cab back to the hotel.
- The rest was just a blur of planes, trains, and automobiles, with me ending up here and my desk writing to you <3.
all in all, it was rather fantastic! how was the weekend for you guys?
