it all will fall, fall right into place..

so after waiting a full seventeen years and two months my father has begun the lecture series. it started with several worn copies of classics that were apparently instrumental in his youth. so now, many hundreds of pages later, i am a student in my very own philosophy tutorial. car rides have become lectures, we have moved on from the concrete lessons of my childhood, now i must develop my arguments, defend them, and not crumble when they are blown apart. and i'll be damned, i love it. i am so intensely fascinated, i simply cannot believe they don't teach this stuff in high schools. i can see how this could consume me, looking for answers that don't exist in any definitive form. makes me want to become a hermit and just read and read and read.

but they forced me to come out. after half an hour of incessant abuse i did. and it was silly and juvenile and fun. the first time since graduation i've been back to the high school - hopped a few fences to play capture the flag on the roof. we never really got that far, but it was enough to just be there with them. i watched them all be, and wondered why that so much of who we all are is a mystery.

hello philosophy, hello anthropology.
