Effusions on Various Entertainment Media

This entry has no main focus, so I will use bullet points.
  • I have a new favorite show- Jon and Kate Plus Eight.
They seem really genuine, not like most similar shows where either everything is wonderful and everyone loves each other and gets along all the time or everyone is overly dramatic and there is a tragedy a week. The realness of it is refreshing.

I cannot even imagine being them- dealing with that many children everyday, plus having someone film it. I do not have the patience. And occasionally, neither does Kate, which is why I like her.

  • In Twilight news, there is an interesting interview with Rachelle Lefevre(movie-Victoria) discussing the "treetop controversy" here.
    It includes this quote:

"I think that there is a scene where a character ends up in a treetop in the book,” she explained. “I don’t want to say who, but there are treetop scenes in the book. But there are also things that are described in the book - the stunts that we are going to be doing, as far as I understand it, are very accurate to what’s in the book.

Really? I must have missed that.

  • Last weekend I watched "Psycho" on Turner Classic Movies (Love TCM). I had never seen it before and enjoyed it thoroughly (more than "The Birds"). It deserves it's reputation, especially considering that it was one of the first movies of it's kind(or at least one of the first popularly acknowledged). Pre-"Secret Window" and "Hide and Seek" and "The Sixth Sense".

  • I want to see Hitchcock's "Rebecca". The only time I've ever seen it on TV was when I was in the middle of reading the novel and I didn't want to spoil it for myself.

  • Newest favorite musical artist- The Puppini Sisters. I have always liked bizarre covers of songs(Smells Like Teen Spirit by Paul Anka, My Humps by Alanis Morrisette, etc.), so they are right up my alley so to speak. Thank you for the recommendation, singnovember!!
I was going to make one of their songs my profile song on Myspace but they do not have a Myspace music page.

  • Pointless, but interesting trivia learned from TCM: When "Psycho" was released Hitchcock had all theaters enforce a "no late entry" policy. If you arrived late, you had to buy tickets for the next showing because he felt the first twenty minutes of the film, in which the audience gets to know the to protagonist were essential to fully appreciate the story.

  • I highly recommend The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon, which was recommended to me by viper209n. It's told from the perspective of an autistic, English teenager. I found it very insightful and a pretty quick read.
