IMPORTANT NOTE: Please, remember that I translate by context so don't take this as an English/Spanish lesson of any kind. This is just so you can know what the song is saying, defined by context, not word for word.
Title: Como Abeja Al Panal / Like a Bee to a Honeycomb
Artists: Juan Luis Guerra Y 440
Yo sé que soy de tu agrado
no niegues en darme el sí
que yo te he ofrecido a tí
un matrimonio sagrado.
No más porque me enamoro
se ponen a dar querella
total, las palmas son más altas
y los puercos comen de ellas.
No quieren que yo te quiera
me tienen impedimento
y no me dejan salir
de la puerta al aposento.
Créame que mucho lo siento
pero qué dirán de mí
tengo un amor de pasión
por eso es que a otro yo
no le puedo dar el sí.
Yo no encuentro un corazón
que me sepa acotejar
cuando yo llego a tu puerta
llega la abeja al panal
llega la abeja al panal, ¡oye!
Quiéreme como te quiero a ti
dame tu amor sin medida
búscame como abeja al panal
liba la miel de mi vida.
Yo no encuentro un corazón
que me sepa acotejar
cuando yo llego a tu puerta
llega la abeja al panal
miel que me dás...
Quiéreme como te quiero a tí
mamita buena
dame tu amor sin medida
búscame como abeja al panal
quita la pena
liba la miel de mi vida.
Créame que mucho lo siento
pero qué dirán de mí
tengo un amor de pasión
y le voy a dar el sí
¡oye que sí!
Quiéreme como te quiero a tí
negrito lindo, ¡ay!...
dame tu amor sin medida
búscame como abeja al panal
liba la miel de mi vida.
¡Oye!
Quiéreme
solamente una vez, mira
búscame
para que sane mi herida
búscame
y una mañana al despertar
bésame
seré una ola en tu vida.
Quiéreme
quiéreme que solo aquí me hundo de amor
búscame
quiéreme que estoy viviendo en tu corazón
júrame
júrame
labio a labio
bajo el cielo
bésame
amarnos toda la vida.
Yo no encuentro un corazón
que me sepa acotejar
cuando yo llego a tu puerta
llega la abeja al panal
llega la abeja al panal.
*****ENGLISH TRANSLATION*****
Him:
I know I am to your liking
Don't deny yourself in telling me yes
I know that I have offered you
A sacred matrimony.
No more of why I fall in love
they start giving complaints
for what, the palm trees are still taller
and pigs eat from them.
Her:
They don't want me to love you
They have me on an obstacle
and they don't let me go
from the door to the entrance(?????)
Believe me that I am sorry
but what will they speak of me
I have a passionate love
and that's why to someone else
I cannot say yes.
Him:
I can't find a heart
that knows how to incite me
when I arrive at your door
arrives the bee to a honeycomb,
arrives the bee to a honeycomb, hey!
(Chorus/Choir Singing)
Love me like I love you
Give me your love without measure
Look for me like a bee for honeycomb
Suck the love from my life.
Him:
I can't find a heart
that knows how to incite me
when I arrive at your door
arrives the bee to the honeycomb,
the honey that you give me...
Love me like I love you
1*mamita buena*
give me your love without measure
Look for me like a bee for honeycomb
Without pity
Suck the love from my life.
Her:
Believe me that I am sorry
but what will they speak of me
I have a passionate love
and I will tell him yes
2*hell, yes!*
Love me like I love you
3*Negrito lindo,* ow!...
Give me your love without measure
Look for me like a bee for honeycomb
Suck the love from my life.
Him:
Hey!
(Choir: Love me)
only once, look
(Choir: Look for me)
Her:
So you can heal my wound
(Choir: Look for me)
Him:
And one morning when you wake
(Choir: Kiss me)
Her:
I'll be a wave in your life
(Choir: Love me)
Him:
Love me that only here do I drown in love
(Choir: Love me)
Her:
Love me that I'm living in your heart
(Choir: Swear to me)
Him:
Swear to me
Lips to lips
Under the sky
(Choir: Kiss me)
Him & Her:
To love each other forever
Him:
I can't find a heart
that knows how to incite me
when I arrive at your door
Him & Her:
arrives the bee to a honeycomb,
arrives the bee to a honeycomb.
????? - I've never once heard the word 'aposento' so I made a guess.
1*mamita buena* - Mamita, even though it means little mommy, in this context it could be seen as 'my good baby', so by using the word 'mamita' it has the same meaning (though not literal) as a woman being called 'baby'.
2*hell, yes!* - Although oye is used for 'hey' or 'hear me', in this context, it's more of an expression of 'hell yeah!'
3*Negrito lindo,* - Yeah, negrito is um *apologizes in advance* little nigger, because the singer, while he isn't black, their culture is not so pale and usually uses those words lightly (not usually offended by it, unless you're a white dude not from their lands, duh), so by saying 'negrito lindo' it's like saying 'cute little nigger'.
Side Note: The main problem with translating his lyrics is that the Spanish here is a bit different from mine, considering that he's Dominican and some words change according to their particular usage, so yeah. This was hell to translate.
