I had the most frustrating discussion with a Time Warner Cable rep over the phone tonight. My bill kept going up and up without any explanation; the rep explained that apparently we signed up for a higher DSL speed on promotion and that the promotion had ended. Except, no one actually told me a.) when the promotion would end and b.) that it was really a promotion to begin with. When I upgraded, all that was explained to me is that it would be $10.00 more, but not that it would end up being $30-40 more eventually, that it was even really a promotion at all. Maybe I'm naive about this kind of thing since it's the first time I've really had to deal with a cable bill, but it just seems sketchy when you come home to a bill that's $8.00 higher than the last month. I even casually mentioned that maybe it was time for me to switch to satellite just to see what he would say, and all I got was "Well, that's your choice." I mean ... apparently my business doesn't matter enough for him to even want to work with me, and that's what made me so mad. The only reason they have so many customers in the first place is because they have a monopoly in the area. He was being an absolute dick to me ... but I guess I might be too if I my "career" was being a service representative for a cable company.

Regardless, they should have discounted my bill because it would have been good business for them, even if the fact of the matter was that it was only a promotion. On top of that, my cable and internet haven't been solid as of late either.
