A good friend of mine from RISD recently had a nose job, and while the results are good (for that sort of procedure), I liked her look so much better before. I'm just sick of seeing girls getting things done because they weren't born "perfect". Don't get me wrong, I love aesthetic perfection in every other way--through clothing, shoes, furniture, architecture, etc.--but not necessarily with people. I so much more prefer seeing those who completely own their look and make it work.  Accepting and embracing what you were born with builds character, and anyway, it's not like plastic surgery is an easy way out ... it's expensive (um, first thing's first here--my friend could have EASILY purchased a couple of  YSL handbags or had that money go towards a down payment for her first home for the cost of her rhinoplasty, and it's not like she's rolling in dough to begin with), there's recovery time, and if your results are anything like Michael Jackson's or more realistically, Tara Reid's, you could end up regretting it later. Seeing people getting cut up or implanted on Dr. 90210 or any other show that puts plastic surgery on TV makes me cringe (and by cringe I mean want to throw up). I know there are a lot of people that probably disagree with me about this, that having some cosmetic procedure done to up your self-esteem is a positive thing. But whatever happened to developing charm, wit, intellect, taste ... in general, a good personality? Unfortunately, I think people have mistaken a great rack for personality.
