Today, I rescued this Praying Mantis, from between our windows (the storm window and the regular window), I had seen him/her in there for a couple of days, so I figured I had better get it out, as it was not doing so on it's own.

I retrieved it, with a coat hanger (finally!)  Then set it atop the azalea bushes, where they seem to thrive all Summer ( Read more... )

Update...8/30/2010 it has disappeared. Have no clue what happened!! I was really looking forward to seeing the butterfly emerge! The Monarchs love my Iris garden, I leave the milkweed in between the weediness of it.

This box turtle stays around our yard, so it is now our "resident box turtle"  :   )  I was positive it was the same one, as I have heard they all have different markings.  So luckily I had taken a photo of it last year, and sure enough, it is the same one. ( Read more... )

Eeeeek, the chick fouled the camera lens, and at the present, (6/13/2010) there are just colorful lines.  Oh my, hope everything is okay.

They are nesting, and one little eaglet has made it's way into the world.  A raven stole the other egg shortly before it hatched!
