Okay so I had some interesting conversations today/read some interesting posts 'n stuff. Had a couple things sort of hit me as I was going through my day today, and I wanted to write them down so i'd remember later.
1. The following is my new take on life. Take it for what it's worth, or not, up to you. (from a comment I posted elsewhere that I wanted to share)
The Truth they don't tell you in high school:
The "real world" is more or less a crappy place to be. There is no "easier" or "less stressfull" or "straightforward" ANYTHING coming your way. No one helps anyone "based on their own merit". In other words, nobody is going to give you anything just because you think you're a good person.
Something to think about:
- Respect from others and opportunities in life are things that we make for ourselves by just plain logging the hours. With people, with jobs, with ourselves.
- The question of whether or not we are happy is simply a decision you make every day when you wake up in the morning. I, for one, hate everyone and everything when I wake up. Then I suck it up, get my butt out of bed and GO try to MAKE my day worth getting up for. Most nights when I go to bed my first thought is "holy crap i'm tired, and I have to get up in 5 hours and do it all over again." My second thought is almost always "Today was a good day."
2. When making any sort of life decision, there are always more options than we can see and at least two more than we want to deal with.
