Okay, yes this happened and it was hilarious, but no, I didn't write this "lovely excerpt" from my swim club newsletter.
"Last week, the Tier 7 athletes were at one of their practices and luckily ran into Ryan Lochte who was also at the pool training for the Bell Grand Prix of Speed Swiming along with the best of Canada's speed swimmers. For those of you who don't know Ryan Lochte, here is a brief bio - 2004 Summer Olympics silver medallist in backstroke and individual medley and gold in freestyle relay, 2004 and 2006 FINA Worlds, bronze, silver and gold medallist and set world records in 100m backstroke, in the opening leg of the 4 X 100 medley relay, becoming the first man to complete the distance in under 50 seconds. Other accomplishments in 2006 include breaking the 11 year old SEC record in the 100 butterfly. Ryan currently attends the University of Florida where he swims for the University in NCAA competition.
Our girls decided that it may be fun to challenge Ryan by racing with him in the pool. They were impressed by his racing skills and realized that he is more than just a fish in the water. What an experience for these girls as they really got a taste of training with one of the fastest swimmers in the world. Ryan is truly a world class swimmer! "
Well whatever. We raced him, he did underwater kicking while we did freestyle (front crawl)... needless to say, he royally kicked our asses. People, I've never seen anyone move that fast in my life. Awesome. Oh ya, did I mention he's RATHER hot? LOL
