freshman year of college in a nutshell.

college college college.
(i'm not technically done with my first year, but i don't really have any business on campus anymore, so i thought it would be appropriate to write this while i'm still here. not sure what it's going to say, not sure how long it's going to be. buckle up.)

college will change you.

you'll learn to break down walls you never knew were there, break the walls you've been hiding behind, break the walls you've built to protect yourself, and even start to climb over walls you can't quite destroy. you'll also learn to build walls to protect yourself and build walls to hide yourself.

maybe not you, but me.

i wouldn't really say i've changed for the better or the worse. i've just changed. i've become a little less in the middle and a little more of both extremes of my personality. being on my own for a year has brought out the good and bad in me. but it's me. it's not always right and not always who i should be, but it's me for now, and at least i can see who i am.

i'm sad to leave knoxville on monday. i've made so many friends here, had SO many fun times here. home will be fun, but i just feel like i've moved my life here to knoxville now and that this is my home now. staying here on the weekends was the best decision i could've made. it's given me so much more of that feeling of independence that i feel college is all about.

this year has been amazing. full of fun times, and some pretty bad times. but all in all it's been a blast. the time of my life. i can't wait to come back for round two next year.

i do have some regrets though, and hope to correct those mistakes next year:
  1. meet the sigma kappa new girls as soon as possible, and hang out with them so i'll get to know all of them.
  2. go to the cross (greek ministry worship service) most wednesday nights.
  3. go to the walk (sevier heights baptist college service) on the other wednesday nights.
  4. go to crossroads (friendship baptist college service) on monday nights.
  5. go out more on the weekends and meet people.
  6. study during the day so that nights are free for sleeping.
  7. really really take every class assignment seriously from day one.
  8. not get so behind on schoolwork that i have to stop working out at TRECS.
  9. embrace the present at every possible moment. because life is good if you just take the time to stop and appreciate it. it's really really good.

i mean, probably more, but those are the main ones.

i meant to go into more detail when i started this, but i feel like that's sufficient.
