Henna dye update

Mar 02, 2009 21:00

Hi all, me again from this post.  I did the Henna this weekend.  I am sad to say I don't think I was very successful with it though :(.

Let me say what I did and what I did wrong (at least what I think I did wrong) and go from there.

I purchased Caca Marron and my friend (who did it for me) let me use her double boiler to try to keep it warm.  I wasn't thrilled with the scent (her 18 year old son actually thought he was going to be ill but I think he was exaggerating), but it didn't smell chemically at all so I could tolerate it and just threaten him cause he's like a kid brother to me.

We melted down 4 squares to a brownie mix/yogurt consistency and once it was all on she wrapped my head in saran wrap, put a plastic bag over that and then a shower cap.  -.- I still smelled.  LOL

We amuse ourselves over the next 4 hours (baking) and then came the time to take it off (and my giant error).  I rinsed it out (and there was like coffee grinds I'm assuming because of the consistency) to wash out (which was a little annoying, but not overly so) and then <.< well I thought it would be it, but when It dried... OMG we were laughing our butts off.  It was like a helmet or for a better image... it was kinda like this...

only not white.  LOL   Well realizing this can't be right (I think it was from the cocoa butter)  I went home washed it (with Trich) and then conditioned it (with coolaulin).  I let it dry and knew it could take a few days to settle SO I waited until today (from Saturday) and then took pictures (I took them myself this time so sorry) and ended up with this...

Which is different from what it had been (covered my grays at least and gave some highlights), but it didn't give me the red I wanted.  SO I think I might try Caca Noir in a few weeks.  In the mean time... I did get Reincarnate Solid Shampoo and I tried it today.  I read that it had Persian red henna so I am hoping that might help turn it a bit redder so I put it on and let it sit while I washed up. I am not thrilled with the scent, but if it gives me the desired effects I can live with it with no problem  I used Coolaulin after it to condition.

Since I'm going away this weekend I am thinking of a bath and while there I might leave the Reincarnate in there longer while reading.  I'll let you know how it is going on :)

Thanks for the help and TIA for any future help.

advice: haircare, shampoo: reincarnate, caca: marron
