Henna dye

Feb 18, 2009 14:32

I have dyed my hair since I was 20, but recently I let all the dye grow out to start with a natural base so I could start using Henna dyes.  I have Dark Brown hair and am looking to get red, but not lucy red.  More like a burgendy red.  I was looking Caca Rouge and Caca Noir, but was wondering if any one had any experience with them.  The one (Caca Rouge) said turns hair a bright healthy red and the other (Caca Noir)said for deep, blue black or dark burgendy.   I have thick hair that is shoulder lenght.

I have heard (somewhere - I don't remember where) that you can mix other natural things in it (like cloves) to play with the color, but I am not sure what to try or do.  I know that they want test strands, and I heard that using a grater is the best way to melt it down smooth mix to put it on, but has anyone had experience with it?  Any suggestions / hope LOL.  I mean I know it is just hair and that it will grow back/out etc, but I'd prefer to not end up looking like Ronald McDonald.

TIA!

UPDATES: People asked for pics of my hair to help suggest more tips.  Attached are pictures taken today!
