“Uwaa!!!! I lost again!!!” Takaki flings his game controller on the floor. “Damn it Ryu!”
Ryutaro gives his evil laugh. “Yossha!!! I’m still the best gamer in town. Yieha!!” he pretends to spin an imaginary rope in the air like a cowboy. “Mayonaka no cowboy ni natte…”
“Urusai!!” Takaki throws a fluffy green pillow and hits the younger’s perfectly on his head.
“Korra!!!” Ryutaro gets annoyed and begins to roll Takaki over the comforter that is covering the bed.
“Oi!! Baka! Let me go!”
“You started it!” Ryutaro keeps rolling. As soon as Takaki gets fully covered by the comforter Ryutaro sit on his tummy. “Take that Bakaki!”
“What’s with all the noise?” Inoo suddenly opens the door. “Oh my God! What are you guys doing?” his eyes widen.
“Smack him Kei! He’s bullying me!” Takaki yells as he moves sideways, attempting to get Ryutaro off his body.
“Inoo-kun, bullying Yuyan is the best way to relieve your stress,” Ryutaro smirks. “Come, hop on!”
Inoo laughs. Without having a second thought he joins Ryutaro to sit on Takaki’s belly.
“You guys are heavy!!!!!” Takaki’s face turns red. “Seriously get off me!”
Finally the two give in. They get back on their feet, letting Takaki to unfold himself.
“That was fun!” Inoo exclaims.
“Deshou… I told you so!” Ryutaro sits back on Takaki’s bed.
Takaki on the other hand is panting on the floor. “Yeah, right. Fun indeed. You almost broke my rib!”
“There there Yuyan, don’t be such a baby,” Ryutaro messes Takaki’s hair. “You need to train more you know. Look at those fat…” he lifts Takaki’s shirt and pokes around the boy’s belly button.
“Winter is near. I need those fats to keep me warm.”
“Baka. You are an idol! You need to keep your body fit!”
“Mendokuse na…”
Inoo smiles to see the two close friends teasing each other. He hasn’t been seeing this for almost a year, and he has to say he misses watching Ryutaro and Takaki being all dorky and funny. It seems like they never had anything to worry about. They fought over video games at one time, and then the next thing you know they become close again.
Above all, he misses that cheerful face of Takaki- the ticklish him laughing around avoiding Ryutaro’s mischief fingers that has been eagerly targeting the boy’s sensitive belly.
Peaceful isn’t it?
“Huarghhh!!!! Save me Kei!” Takaki jumps onto the bed and hides behind Inoo.
“I’m the tickling monster!! I’ll tickle you to death!!!” Ryutaro continues to chase the boy around Inoo.
“Yamette yo!!”
“Kocho kocho… kocho kocho… haha!”
Inoo couldn’t help but just laugh. Childish, he thought. But again he is happy to see such scene.
“Ne Ryu,” Inoo calls, stopping the boy from harassing Takaki.
“Nani?”
“Why don’t you move back here?”
“Eih? Me?” Ryutaro frowns. “I’m happy with that suggestion, but you know I can’t.”
“But you see, I think you’re doing a good job supporting this group.”
“Pardon me?”
“This sounds hilarious but none of us the so-called ‘adults’ really behave like an adult should. But you… you face everything so maturely. I mean… we need someone of that strength at this critical moment.”
Ryutaro raises his eyebrows. “Hikaru-kun is here.”
“With what happened to Kota, I think he’ll collapse sooner or later,” Takaki joins in as he fixes his shirt. “I’m unreliable as you know, Dai-chan is currently focusing on Yama-chan, and Kei, no offense-” he steals a look at the boy. “-but he’s not mentally stable yet.”
“And you forgot that I’m not JUMP anymore,” Ryutaro makes his point. “I’ve caused enough trouble for the group; I don’t want to add more.”
“But Ryu-”
“Get over it guys,” Ryutaro stands up, sounding more firm than before. “You are a nine-member group now. You’ve got to move on! I won’t always be around you see. Well of course I’ll help in any ways I could, but before I can do that you need to help yourself first. Stop living in the past. You need to move forward.”
“But we can’t just forget the past right?” Takaki sarcastically asks. “We’re not amnesic.”
“I never ask you to forget it, just get over it. There’s a huge different Bakaki.”
“But what can we do?” Inoo looks rather troubled. “Even Johnny-san begins to ignore us now. What if he really disbands us?”
“He won’t,” the youngest replies.
“How can you be so sure? You were there when he said it, that we’ll go into indefinite hiatus!”
“If we don’t do anything.”
“What do you mean?”
Ryutaro crosses his hands. “Well, if I am the president I too will get pissed when I have to spend a lot of money refunding the concert’s cancellation fee. And now that Yabu-kun is injured Johnny-san has to consider postponing the grand stage play he has been working for since early this year.”
“Makes sense,” Takaki nods.
“Therefore I think Johnny-san is challenging you. Something like ‘prove to me that this group worth my investment’.”
Inoo looks dearly at the boy. Indeed, if you look at it from another angle Ryutaro’s interpretation is somewhat right.
“But how? I mean, look at us. We’re so scattered. Everyone has their own problems,” Inoo inquires.
“I suggest you to use these disadvantages to your advantage.”
“Wait. You lost me there.”
“Come on, be creative!” Ryutaro urges. “When you think of tragedy, you know a man with scarred face- doesn’t anything cross your mind?”
Takaki and Inoo stare blankly at each other. Just what is the boy is trying to emphasize?
“Ah!!” Takaki excitedly shouts. “You mean that?”
“Sekai!! Bakaki, you’re not baka anymore!”
“Wait, I’m still-”
Takaki put his hands on Inoo’s shoulder. “Think of a character Kei. A dark but pitiful character. The famous character with a scar!”
“Oh, that one!”
Ryutaro claps. “If everything goes smoothly, we will not only restore Johnny-san’s trust on the group, but we’ll also help Yabu-kun to gain his confidence again.”

Keito picks up his cell phone that has been ringing for quite sometimes.
“Hello mum,” he begins the conversation. “Sorry, I wash in the bathroom. It’s late now, you should be sleeping.”
“I just miss you my dear,” his mother’s voice sounds hoarse.
“Mum, did something happen?” the worried Keito asks. “I’ll drive to your place now.”
“Keito dear,”
“Hmm?”
“Can you please listen to me?”
Keito takes his seat at his study table. “What is it mum?”
“I love you Keito.”
“I love you too mum.”
“Your father told me, that you decided to be my donor.”
Keito bites his lips. “Mum, I do it because I want to. Dad can’t stop me. So don’t worry.”
“I want you to take back the donor form Keito.”
“What?”
“I don’t want your kidney.”
“But why? You’ll be healthy again! You won’t be needing dialysis anymore!”
“Keito dear, please listen to me this one time.”
“It’s dad isn’t it? He threatens you. He doesn’t want his dream to be destroyed.”
“No dear. It’s your dreams that I don’t want to destroy,” Keito hears a sobbing sounds from the other end.
“Mum…”
“It’s true, I hate your dad for making you a Johnny’s, for taking away your freedom. But dear, seeing how much you grow in these past few years makes me think I might be the one that’s wrong. You made a lot of friends, and you have such wonderful team members. You’ve never looked happier. And I don’t want to rip that happy life from you.”
Keito is at brink of tears. “But I want to save you mum…”
“You’re still too young honey. There’re a lot more things waiting for you. Don’t worry about me. I’m used to dialysis, it’s not that bad really. As long as I have you, I’m fine.”
“But mum-”
“You told me once right, that you want to be the best guitarist of the century. Then you need to gain more experience, and I think you are in the right path now. I want you to keep doing what you’re doing, and I’m sure my dear you will succeed. You are special Keito, I know you are.”
Keito wipes his wet eyes. “Then can you promise me, that you will come to my solo concert one day?”
“I’ll hold on until that time comes. Reserve a seat for me.”
Keito chuckles. “Of course, a VIP seat for my mum. As long as you don’t mind sitting next to dad and Johnny-san.”
Keito could hear a shy laugh from his mother.
“All right my dear. Go to bed. You still have school tomorrow right? Sweet dreams Keito.”
“Good night mum. Love you.”
And the boy presses the ‘end call’ button. He is not really sure how he is supposed to feel at the moment. It’s depressing for him having his mother refusing his help, but at the same time knowing that he can still continue as JUMP makes him somewhat relief.
“Keito, can I borrow your-” Yuto casually walks into Keito’s room without a single knock, shock to see the boy crying.
“Hey, what’s wrong?” the tall boy becomes panic. “Are you sick? Oh no, is your mum all right?”
Keito stays silent.
“Are you hungry? Or maybe you have headache? Ah, I know! Ryu is bullying you again! I’m gonna kick that boy’s ass-”
Keito quickly grabs Yuto’s hand.
“Can I have a hug?”
Yuto’s eyes widen listening to the request. “Em… well… yeah… why not…”
As fast as the lightning Keito pulls Yuto towards him and hugs the boy with all his might, crying on the boy’s chest.
Yuto, who is somewhat confuse has no idea on what is appropriate to do.
So he decides to return the hug, hoping it might soothe the crying boy.
And strangely, I feel comfortable…
