Part 11 It has been decided. JUMP will not start their album promotion tour without Hikaru. Mr. Johnny has no say to these nine young boys. They firmly stand on the decision despite various attempts from the agency.
“JUMP is ten of us, and that will never change. The mini concert will not happen without Hikaru,” Yabu strictly told their managers. Being guilty of pushing Hikaru without realizing his disease the managers couldn’t do anything. They well know how the boys really attached to each other, and forcing them to separate is just nonsense.
KAT-TUN has finally solved their issue. Akanishi unexpectedly came to JUMP house the day after he hit Yabu. It was a rare tearful scene where Akanishi humbly kneeled to Yabu and KAT-TUN, begging for their forgiveness. Taguchi was the first person to forgive the guilty boy, followed by the others. Akanishi and Yabu also cleared the things between them.
“I love you Akanishi-kun, but I love Hika-chan more. It’s my bad for fooling around with your heart. I deserved the punches,” Yabu explains the situation. “Hontoni, gomennasai!”
“No, it’s my fault. I was the one who were using you to get Kame angry. I’m the one at fault. Please forgive me,” Akanishi threw away his pride and bow to his kohei. “You are a sweetheart Yabu, but Kazuya is my destiny.”
“Hah, now you guys a real brothers!” Koki laughed, followed by the rest of the house. “By the way Jin, I got your crying face on tape. I bet the western media will love this. Money, money, money.” Koki playfully show the video camera to Akanishi.
“Oi Koki! Can you please at least let me have my first performance before trying to sabotage me?” Akanishi teased with his usual irritating voice.
Nobody laughs the first time. They were rather shocked, thinking Akanishi is getting mad again.
“Erm, guys… That was supposed to be a joke,” Akanishi clarified.
The tension settled. “Whoa…Jin is making a joke!” the straight face Taguchi joined in. And they burst into laughter again.
It has been two weeks since. KAT-TUN has move back to their group house, and Hikaru is back in the hospital. After several long discussions Hikaru finally agreed to undergo the surgery, which is supposed to be six days from now.
Hikaru pulls out the invitation card from the purple envelope. He reaches for his glasses on the side table. His eyesight has markedly deteriorated since the past few weeks, primarily because the tumor is pressing on his visual tract, according to the doctors.
It is Kame’s and Akanishi’s wedding invitation. Seem like they will proceed with the wedding as planned months ago. Hikaru smiles, he should be able to go to the wedding- it is two days before his surgery. He wonders what he should get for the couple for their wedding gift.
“What makes you so happy Hika?” Yabu enters the hospital room. “Ah, they send it here too,” he finally notices the card in Hikaru’s hand.
Yabu kisses Hikaru’s forehead, later arrange the food he brings on the table. “Since you can’t really swallow the solids, I make some salmon soup for you. A little bit spicy, just the way you like them.”
“Arigato,” Hikaru thank his boyfriend. “Ko-chan, can you take me out to the mall? I want to find something as their wedding gift.”
“Dame!” Yabu strictly answers. “I’ll get the present for you. But you are going to stay here and recover soon.”
Hikaru pouts. He turns his back to Yabu. Yabu knows he might have make Hikaru upset. He is more sensitive lately. Well, it is expected. The doctors did tell him that Hikaru will gradually become more and more emotional as the tumor grows. Yabu slowly move closer to the sulking boy, hugging him from behind.
“You know, the best gift you can give all of us is to get better soon,” he softly kisses Hikaru’s cheek.
“If I ever get better,” Hikaru suddenly utters the words Yabu hates the most.
“We’ve talked about this Hika. Think positive. The surgeon will take out the tumor and you’ll be fine again.”
“How can I stay positive knowing that the percentage of success is less than twenty percent?”
Yabu keeps silence. Honestly he is scared too. The surgeons keep stressing that Hikaru’s tumor is at his final stage, even removing the tumor does not guarantee Hikaru may recover and worse, Hikaru may die during the procedure.
“But there is still hope, no matter how little it is.”
“Ko-chan, why don’t we-”
Yabu seals Hikaru’s lips with his kiss. “We are going to do this. I am prepared Hika. Please don’t give up just yet. What will happen is another different story. But for now, at least we know that we try.”
Hikaru nods, later embracing his boyfriend tight. I’m scared Ko-chan.

Hikaru looks out from his side window. He loves the feeling of the wind touching his face. The chills mean something- he is still alive.
Akanishi and Kamenashi wedding went on smoothly. The two gentlemen look great in their tuxedos, with the rest of KAT-TUN being their witness. Hikaru was sitting at the very front on his wheelchair, listening carefully to each and every word of the couple’s vow, holding Yabu’s hand tight. Will this time ever come for the two of them?
“You should have stayed at the reception party Yama-chan,” Yabu tells Yamada who is sitting at the back with the sleeping Yuto on his lap.
“I don’t really like parties, and Yuto is tired too. After all I want to be with Hikaru-kun as well,” Yamada replies.
Hikaru steals a few seconds to glimpse at Yamada through his side mirror. The boy is gently stroking Yuto’s hair. Yabu is driving on his right side, focusing on the road. He stares at Yabu’s pretty face. He feels sorry for Yabu. Every single time he had was dedicated to take care of him at the hospital. Yabu has become skinnier too. The eye-bag around his eyes shows that he has been crying a lot lately.
And so Hikaru. His surgery is two days away, with little chances for recovery. Even if Hikaru survives the procedure he might loss most of his memories, even worse becoming paralyzed. Thinking about this makes Hikaru feels so hopeless. He doesn’t want to be a burden to his love ones.
“What’s wrong Hika?” Yabu breaks the silence.
“Ko-chan, will we have a happy ending?”
Yabu feels like his heart being stabbed by a knife hearing the question. Yabu takes a deep breath, forcing a smile on his face.
“Hika, the ending is important, but it’s the journey that is most essential. We’ll get to the ending eventually, but for now let’s enjoy our journey, ne?” Yabu tries to assure his boyfriend.
“If I die, promise me that you’ll move on,” Hikaru kisses Yabu’s hand. “I don’t mind.”
Yabu feels the tears almost fall from the edge of his eyes. “Em,” he shortly replies, nodding his head at the same time.
Yamada tries to hide his face. His heart feels like being torn apart listening to Hikaru’s request. Yamada couldn’t imagine being in their shoe- if he was the one to loss Yuto. He wouldn’t be able to be as tough as Yabu did.
Why must it be them? They never did anything wrong to anyone.
Life is so unfair.
