Audible solicitations and EVO review

Does anyone have any recommendations for good audio-books (or books in general)? I'm usually more into nonfiction science, economics, psychology, maybe some history. But particularly awesome sci-fi, fantasy, noir, or pulp wouldn't go awry.

I've had an Audible account for a few months now. I've been quite happy with the books, listening to them at the gym or while jogging around the lake (when I lived somewhere near the lake.) But I haven't been using my "Free" ($11/month/"free" credit) credits fast enough. I didn't see any mention when I signed up, but apparently there's a limit on how many credits you can have. I don't know how many credits I've paid for but lost, but I have 10 of 12 right now. I'd like to use them all, and then I'll probably cancel my account. Taking stuff I've paid for makes me grumpy.

I've had my EVO for two weekends now, and I'm quite enjoying it. USB tether has saved me a lot of SAN here at grandma's. Coverage around Palo Alto is noticeably better that AT&T. I'm getting a lot of use out of the turn by turn navigation. When I'm paying attention, I've driven past a few exits and had some adventures getting back on course. I've been trying to sink more addresses into my contacts so I can just hop around. After a brief time with the EVO, my iPhone 3gs screen seems gritty, small, and clunky. I did have an annoying issue the first few days where it wasn't registering portrait-landscape rotations, but some careful recalibration seems to have cleared that up. I'm amused by the variability of the on screen keyboards across Android phones. The EVO's is a bit bigger and busier than the nexus, with arrow keys and long-press alternates for entering numbers and punctuation without switching keyboards.

I haven't really tested the battery much, which seems to be the main complaint about the EVO. Since I'm not using it as my main cell number yet, I usually just turn it off when I'm not using it. Although the boot screen is stupid bright and the boot ditty is really annoying. I'm unconvinced the SenseUI is adding anything to the phone.

I don't think Android is ready to take out the iPhone yet, though. I think it needs maybe another year before the apps mature enough to compete with the iPhone in the iPhone's core usage. App integration is definitely clunky, having to kind of patch together a few different pieces of functionality to get what I want. Frex, one app that lets you import a contact's address only shows the addresses, with no name or ID. Another similar app shows only cryptic contact id #s (this is probably a bug.) The iPhone is definitely more cohesive and generally usable. Fortunately, I'm more into the EVO as a hacking platform than anything else and mroe than willing to write something to do what I want. If anyone has any cool apps, let me know.
