A very...cute movie. At times even adorable. But it doesn't hold my attention as well as other Ghibli movies. Not even the somewhat incoherent and scattered Howl's Moving Castle. Still the Cheshire Cat Bus scenes were nice. Really, I think the movie needed less mopey sick mom moments and more magic...

This is probably the first Miyazaki movie I don't like. Its pretty as always. And the imagery and characters are great. But the plot just meanders all over the place, the ending just shudders to a stop with no decent explenation. And the "curse" on Sophie is terribly inconsistant.
