Why does my facebook friend who posts the cute pictures of doggies have to get political sometimes?

Written back before guns loaded automatically, required actual experience to load and shoot, and could not be concealed under a shirt. Before child saftey laws. Before large public schools or shopping malls. Before US dealers effectively overthrew the government in large portions of northern Mexico when they traded weapons for drugs in a continuing spiral of greed and mutual destruction. This quote makes since in the late 18th century, before the French showed Europe how brutal and terrifying a true revolution--destroying the old government, rather than seceding from it--always is. The old flintlock hanging over the door is as related to modern firearms as lemurs and humans. Don't let my dad or the NRA know, but the world has managed to change in the intervening centuries.
