Reid returned to Oakdale by early evening. He went straight to Katie’s. There was a note waiting for him.
Reid,
Sorry I’m not here to welcome you back, but Jacob is with Margo and Chris has taken me out for dinner. I don’t know when I’ll be back.

As much as he liked the woman Reid was glad that she wasn’t there. He was not in a good mood. He tried calling Luke, only to have the call rejected again. Reid would understand if had said something jerky to Luke, but they were getting on well, really well.
Reid grabbed a beer from the fridge and started unpacking. After about 10 minutes he got bored and decided to watch some TV, that wasn’t much better so he decided he’d text Luke.
Luke was at Lily’s looking after Ethan when he got a phone call from Reid, not wanting to have this conversation over the phone he rejected the call. But minutes later he got a text from the man.
Is there a reason you are ignoring my calls?

Luke considered it for a long moment before replying:
Come to my mom’s house, then I’ll talk to you

Around 15 minutes later after Luke had put Ethan to bed, the doorbell rang. As soon as Luke opened the door Reid’s lips met his, Luke kissed him back without even thinking about it. Reid took a few steps into the house, and Luke shut the door behind him. The two men continued kissing as Reid kept walking further into the room until the back of Luke’s legs hit the couch armrest and he fell back onto it with Reid landing on top of him. Both of their legs were dangling off the armrest, and Reid’s hands were either side of Luke’s head.
“Why were you ignoring my calls?” Reid asked once he caught his breath.
Luke shifted uncomfortably beneath him, “It doesn’t matter.”
“You’ve been ignoring me for two days without explanation; it matters.”
“Why are you doing this Reid?”
“Doing what?”
“Kissing me and making me…” his voice trailed off.
“Making you what Luke?”
“Making me want you.”
“I said before Luke, I wanted to kiss you. What’s not to get about that? And as for you wanting me, that’s all you,” Reid leant down to kiss Luke again, but a hand on his chest stopped him.
“But why would you be interested in me?”
“I’ve asked myself that question several times before, and I still don’t know the answer. I just am.” This time when Reid leant down to kiss Luke he wasn’t stopped, instead he was greeted with a soft, slow kiss.
When Lily had returned home that night she had not expected to see Luke’s legs tangled with another man’s hanging over the couch. She debated whether or not to leave them to it, but who are we kidding, it’s Lily, she couldn’t not do something.
She cleared her throat loudly causing Luke to jump, Reid lost his balance and ended up falling on his ass on the floor. “Doctor Oliver?!”
“Ms Walsh,” Reid said through gritted teeth as he got up. He’d had a hard landing.
“Can one of you explain what’s going on?”
“I’d love to but Katie will be wondering where I am, so if you’ll excuse me,” Reid said casually before making his way to the door. Once he was out of Lily’s eye line he winked at Luke, and left.
“Luke?”
“Mom,” Luke moved to sit properly. Lily raised her eyebrows at him, “We were just kissing don’t worry.”
“He’s your doctor Luke.”
“He was my doctor. When I came back here he assigned me to someone else for after care remember.”
Lily sat down next to her son, “I just want you to be happy Luke.”
“I am.”
By the time Reid got back to Katie’s she was waiting for him on the couch watching some rubbish on TV. As soon as Reid opened the door she switched it off.
“And where have you been?”
“Out.”
“Reid,” Katie was going to be a good mom to a teenager, Reid could tell by the tone of voice she often used with him.
“Is this going to be another one of those light-in-face interrogations?”
“Just sit down and tell me where you rushed off to without leaving me a note.”
“You knew I was back,” Reid said as he sat down.
“Only because you left your stuff right by the door. You know I’m not going to drop it until you tell me.” She really wouldn’t.
“I went to Luke’s.”
There was a long pause, “Is that all you’re going to give me?”
“Yes,” Reid made to get up.
“Fine, but I’m just going to assume you had sex with him.”
“Katie! We didn’t!” Reid said loudly before adding a lot more quietly, “We got caught kissing on the couch.”
Katie tried to hold it in but she burst out laughing, “Who by?”
“Lily.”
Katie stopped laughing, “You do realize that he’s probably getting a lecture right now.”
