What I Said

A little glitch in my gitalong kept me from blogging for a bit, but I'm back and with some fun stuff, too.

I'll start by linking you up with a terrific conversation I had with Water Balloon author Audrey Vernick. You can find it here. We talk voice and process and unlikely friends.

We'll talk more about Water Balloon soon, but I'll put this out here now: for all those young readers and librarians who write to me after reading A Crooked Kind of Perfect and ask what else they should read: Water Balloon. It perfectly captures that space between before and after that is tween life. Summer. Friends. Less-than-friends. Parents who are suddenly becoming real, live, complicated people before your eyes. And a boy. A special boy who helps you recognize what is special about yourself.
Man oh man.

Give it a read.
