Pine martens have been popping up in my dreams lately. I've always had a special "relationship" with Mustelids in general, but never such an intense focus on one species. Last night it was Martens and thunderstorms. And then I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep because of my back hurting ( Read more... )

There are some completely reversible options for men in the world right now that are safer than birth control for woman. The most exciting I've heard about was an option invented by an Indian Dr. (quick link I found on it: http://www.wired.com/magazine/2011/04/ff_vasectomy/) that is MORE effective than vasectomies and any birth control given to women. That's an old article, and last I heard it had passed trials with flying colors and is being implemented in some areas of India. Of course, because it's so cheap and effective (last 10 years I believe, and is easily reversible) no one in the U.S. will back it here... because the damn insurance agencies won't make money! I've actually been told by a doctor that it's a horrible idea because then they won't make money on unplanned pregnancy! Can you tell I have another rant about US healthcare, fighting to get out?! Ha.

I hear US researchers are working on a male HBC pill as well. I had such an awful time with HBC I'd be very wary of letting my guy take any. You're lucky it does not mess you up!

I'm not goint to get you started on US healthcare and insurance companies because I could probably rant as much as you! Sadly, I can believe a doctor would use a money excuse like that, as horrible as it is. Maybe you and Brian should elope to India and spend a few weeks there. ;)

The commentary below is very interesting, because I agree with her, I keep seeing articles promising that research will give us a male HBC pill in 5 years-but nothing seems to be coming of that.
