Two Phases

Oct 22, 2008 06:21

I just wanted to thank everyone who spoke with me the other day. Listening to all of you kept me as calm as I needed to be until Ronald came to rescue me from the cold. Your concern and interest was greatly appreciated, and I hope that we can continue speaking in the future. I'll re-pay your kindnesses ( Read more... )

No, I was faking it because I enjoy turning myself into a stagnant blood pinata simply to distress people.

You realize of course that referring to yourself as a stagnant blood pinata will distress people, Severus.

I won't ask personal questions related to it again. Regulus Black, the situation is the same for him? Are Harry and the others aware?

Perhaps if they're easily distressed. Regulus laughed.

Oh, quite. And they're very aware. It's something of a widely known fact for them that he is who he is and that he's dead - apparently Sirius made mention of it, among other things.

As for myself, I was less than lucid when I arrived. I might have said some ... relatively unfortunate things while I was disoriented, rendering keeping it a secret null.

It distressed me well enough. You could have been a bit more clinical for the benefit of those with sensitive stomachs.

I don't feel comfortable discussing Regulus in this fashion. I suppose I'll take any questions for him up with the horse's mouth. Talking to you like this makes me feel like a bit of an avoidant sneak.

What else has been rendered null as a secret which I ought to know about, might I ask?

I will be as sensitive or vile about my own demise as I wish, thank you.

All right, fine.

A number of things I'm sure have slipped my mind - Lily isn't to know a thing, you understand.

Fair enough. Fair enough. I suppose it's calling a chair a chair. A lycanthrope is still a manwolf in the end, is that it?

Understand and comply, for her sake.

Are we out of the proverbial closet here, Severus? I mean with regard to the Muggles. I'm assuming a 'yes.'

Potter already took it upon himself to bloody obliviate her once, and did a bad job at it - she could sense the damned holes in her memory.

Yes. There's far more 'fanciful' things than wizards and witches here.

Harry has no bloody business taking it upon himself to obliviate anyone, and when I see his hide, I'm going to tell him as much.

Then, beyond personal sensitivity and other such emotional proclivities which I might hold, what is your professional opinion on my keeping the fact of my curse to myself? Specifically in reference to the children and Lily Evans. Helpful or harmful?

Potter's become quite the ... well. Things have happened.

You don't want my input on that.

Things, Severus? Don't hold a carrot in front of me.

If I didn't want your input I wouldn't've asked for it. Don't patronize me. I've got everyone else to do that.

You're the one who doesn't want to be a gossip.

I'm not being patronizing, you damned over-sensitive prat. I'm attempting to be civil about it.

You know as well as I do that there is a thin line between gossip and a proverbial secret shared for queen and country.

Severus Snape is attempting to be civil with the werewolf, my god, where the hell are we.

We're in an interdimensional pocket City built on a clock counting down to the ends of the universe. And I called you a prat. Stop it.

I'm surprised Potter hasn't given you the rap sheet yet.

If you call me a menace I'll consider it even and drop the subject of my deep confusion for the foreseeable future.

I haven't talked to him much. To be frank, things are more awkward than I had presumed they might be in my joy to see his disheveled little head.

I'll call you a monster. That's what you are. I'd prefer you locked up permanently, as exterminating you would have no real effect here. Anonymous or not. Is that what you want to hear? So much for civility.

That's because he's been made the altar lamb of a war that's destroyed everything, Lupin.

Severus, don't you presume what I want to hear or what I need to hear or otherwise. I asked you to tell me whether or not Lily should hear word of it, for Lily's sake. Not mine and not yours, so leave it.

If you're expecting to have crushed my hopes for the future, I hate to disappoint. You confirm as much my worries.
