Songs from Arrietty

Sep 20, 2011 02:19

I saw two movies at the R&A movie festival last weekend: Pure (Swedish drama) and Arrietty, the latest Studio Ghibli movie. I enjoyed both movies and consequently both of them had good music, different but good. I think that kids are going to love Arrietty. The visual look reminded me of Howl's Moving Castle.

I looked up a couple of the songs from Arrietty on Youtube. Jiji complained of the French singer's accent when she was singing in Japanese, but truthfully I didn't even notice it until she pointed it out. I don't really pay much attention to lyrics when listening to music. If I want to know what they're singing about, I have to concentrate on the lyrics. Otherwise they're just sounds without much meaning to me. Finnish songs are the only ones where I have some kind of idea what the song was about after I've heard it once. Somehow I "hear" the Finnish lyrics even without meaning to.

Areta Niwa (The Neglected Garden) by Cecile Corbel
The movie starts with this song.

Arrietty's Song by Cecile Corbel
And this song is heard at the end.Somehow I now I have choir practise three times a week. o.O How did that happen? We'll see how it goes. I can drop one day, if it feels like too much.Life seems to get busier every time that Fall comes. It feels like my social life has doubled or tripled since Summer. I wonder why it goes like that. Maybe other people are too busy during the Summer when I usually seem to have a lot of free time.Last night I had a dream where I was flying. I was thinking today that I seem to have two types of flying dreams. In last night's dream I was sort of flying like birds do, meaning that I was horizontal in the air and had to work to stay afloat and glide. The hardest part is usually trying to gain altitude. That takes the most work. In the other type of flying dream It's like I'm on a planet with a very low gravity. I can jump easily from roof to roof. It feels like I'm as light as a feather. In this version I'm standing up while flying.New chapters for Koisur Boukun. <3
