It's been over a month since posting here.  I got really tired of it being nothing but the crisis du jour.

FAMILY STUFF
Mom/Grandma continues to slowly decline.  She's pretty much lost about the last 5-7 years of memory now, and can't remember anything new much more than a few minutes.  She's very weak, but keeps on ticking.  She did have another ( Read more... )

Not much posted here lately.  Been busy and burned out.

Kye had surgery a month ago--lost a foot of his small intestine.  It appears he swallowed a wood chip (more like chunk)--I think it was the sort that people soak in water and then put in grills for smoking food.  Anyway, it wouldn't pass, and by the time all the scans and tests got done and ( Read more... )

For those of you that don't know, my nephew was shot to death in 1999 while working at a Pizza Hut, along with the restaurant's manager and a waitress.  It has been eight years of trials.  While the evidence was solid (rock solid, including the testimony of one of the victims before they died), this case has been a poster child for ethnic ( Read more... )

One door closes, another opens...

My niece gave birth to a bouncing baby boy this last Saturday, 17 February!  Welcome Baby James!  May you be blessed in all you do, may your parents be the best guides ever, may you know deep and lasting love, and may you have lots of fun.

My sister Colleen passed away on Tuesday evening. She battled cancer bravely for over a year. Her tenacity is inspirational, made additionally so because she had advanced multiple sclerosis. She and my elderly mother have shared a house for the last five years--with my other sister and I providing support as needed (along with a team of health care ( Read more... )

Last week Colleen had an MS episode, and was essentially paralyzed.  She's been recovering some of her mobility in her hands and arms, but that relapse really knocked the stuffing out of her.
