Urg. One of my very good friends, Kenji, has Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and friday night (thursday morning for me, they live in Japan) he had a seizure and now he is in a mini coma. His boyfriend, Yaruki, wanted to stay with him the whole time, but no, the hospital basically told him to piss off because they are assholes. He had to go home and sit ( Read more... )

This is what I consider the great tragedy of strong internet relationships- they are of the mind and soul, not the body. There are times when nothing can substitute for your physical presence; when you need to be there.

I know how it feels. You want to do something for them. Hold them and comfort them...hell, fix meals and walk the dog! Anything to lighten the load for them. If you get lucky and have an i-net friend who's a couple hundred miles away, it would be hard but possible. But I just looked up the distance- over 6400 miles- shit even worse than the distance between Seattle and Rotterdam. Impossible. Even my nearest i-net friend is close to 2000 miles away! It makes you want to scream and tear your hair out and throw things ( ... )

I know, it is so far away. It's frustrating.

The thing is, Kenji is in the hospital a lot because of his CFS, so everyone knows them, but half the doctors there don't approve of the fact that the are both male, so they try hard not to let Yaruki in when they are working. It's horrible. I talked to him a few minutes ago, and he was saying how he felt like he was the one who was miles away from Kenji, and can't do anything for him, because the doctors are such assholes.

Apparently he is improving though, responding to Yaruki's voice and stuff more, so thats promising. I hope he is okay. I worry so much for both of them.
