Mm, gorgeous selection - I can completely see those fitting S/R, especially the first one. Those parts about a house? Cuts me deep, dude. ;_;

Pablo Neruda is probably my favorite poet (which makes me squee in delight that someone else knows his work - he's mostly overlooked!). I think my favorite poem of his, Sonnet XVII, fits S/R in a way (more from Sirius's POV), post-Azkaban:

I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that never blooms
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way

than this: where I does not exist, nor youso close that your hand on my chest is my hand ( ... )

Oh man, I love that poem, and it's one of the ones I haven't had the luck to read yet. Just beautiful, and you're totally right: very post-Azkaban Sirius/Remus.

Another poem I have always thought fit SIRIUS, pre-Azkaban, was the Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock. Just a beautiful poem on its own, but all those implications--just wonderful. Or maybe it's just for my version of Sirius. :)

And re. the lj cut things--I always get those messages and when I go over my code I can never figure out where's the error or what's wrong, so I usually just give up and reformat the entry...like I did today! Yay me!

Yes, "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" does fit Sirius well. I love that poem to pieces - so beautiful. Even though Sirius is supposed to be handsome, and the protagonist of "Prufrock" describes himself as old and balding, I can see how Sirius would be insecure about himself when it comes to Remus. Great selection ( ... )

Also my love for your icon is great and huge. Ed and Al always make me have a little quiver--more so when they're small and all...uh, arm-ed, and body-ed. Either way, I love them to bits.

Hey, you're probably thinking 'who the hell?'...but I frequently check out (always stalk) your journal.

Those are really lovely poems.

Since we're having this impromptu poetry fest...this one's actually pretty famous. But, to me, it's so Sirius/ Remus..Marauder days and maybe after.

We Two Boys Together Clinging by Walt Whitman

WE two boys together clinging,
One the other never leaving,
Up and down the roads going-North and South excursions making,
Power enjoying-elbows stretching-fingers clutching,
Arm’d and fearless-eating, drinking, sleeping, loving,
No law less than ourselves owning-sailing, soldiering, thieving, threatening,
Misers, menials, priests alarming-air breathing, water drinking, on the turf or the sea-beach dancing,
Cities wrenching, ease scorning, statutes mocking, feebleness chasing,
Fulfilling our foray.

P.S. Your writing is awesome. You have a gift for refreshingly brisk, animated words. [/end cheese]

I just found this post in an archive and felt I *had* to put in my own song that I think fits Sirius/Remus. It's "Everything You Want" by Vertical Horizon. Goes like this:

Somewhere there's speaking
It's already coming in
Oh and it's rising at the back of your mind
You never could get it
Unless you were fed it
Now you're here and you don't know why

But under skinned knees and the skid marks
Past the places where you used to learn
You howl and listen
Listen and wait for the
Echoes of angels who won't return

The rest of the lyrics are here if you're interested. :) But I mean come on, you howl and listen, can it GET any more Remus/Sirius? I love that song. x)

<3!
