Yunyun is so going to smirk at all the post

For once, I'm gonna start by the end. My stomach is dying with bliss right now, and is heavy as hell. 4.60 pounds. I got a duck confit blablanameblabla and a café gourmand (tea and mini-tarte tatin), plus my orangina for that price. Thanks to Aku, who works in le Café Rouge, a brand of French restaurants (yeeeeeah, I'm seeing lots of France here). Tonight was a trial night to prepare for the opening next week and Aku invited me so I just had to pay for the drink: the origina plus the tea in the café gourmand. Anyway. Sorry, but DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK *swirls* That's my fucking favorite meat. Duck. Is. So. Good and expensive. And one of the servers and me ended up having a discussion about how gooood duck is. Ugh. So, so good. Well, in fact, he chose the dish for me because I was a bit lazy and told him "choose for me. No salad, no pork and I like potatoes". That's what he came up with. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeea! Twas soooo good. Took spinach with it. Twas a bit dry because they don't do it like we do in France with lots of butter/cream, but Aku came to help and omg, French slightly salted butter. Gods, perfect; that's what I use for cooking. I don't like unsalted butter, except for the breakfast I don't eat or baking.

And now, I'm slowly melting into my bed and it'll be a miracle for me to be able to drag myself to the shower later XD But well, duck is worth it.

I spent the afternoon at the British Library, trying to revise and edit my NaNo while being amazed at how gorgeous the building is. Didn't do much though. Also, El-Jay is blocked there XD But actually, my goal for today was to go to the London equivalent of the anti-café (the one where I pay for the time I spend there, not the food/drink, which I can consume limitlessly). The shop is located in Old Street, more or less an hour and an half walk from Victoria according to google maps, anyway, because well, I ended up in the British Library, not there XD

What happened in between was Trafalgar Square. And something I hadn't seen yes until now, even though I've seen plenty of shops (okay, Forbidden Planet is also one, but it's not a full bookstore). Waterstones. That's a bookstore, the bane of my existence. So, I told myself, 'hey, let's have a look'. I didn't want to buy anything because I've already bought two books yesterday I needed the money for the café.

Gods, I can see Yunyun smirking at that. Madly and mockingly XD

So, in France, there never are sales like 'buy one get one half price' for interesting books. That and except for a few, books are cheaper here. For example, let's take Beautiful Chaos, costs around almost 14 dollars here while I payed, brace yourselves, around 20 bucks for it back in France XD It's to a point that when I came here for one week back in high school, came back with ten books.

And back to the present. I really didn't want to buy anything, just sort of make a buy-later list in my head. But. Gaiman and Pratchett were in the 'buy one get one half price' section. C'mon. How could I resist? This would've been criminal. And that's how I eventually decided to go to the British Library: it's free!

travel, writing, food, book: never-ending reading pile, personal: friends, london
