I'm procrastinating and I found a site with book/reading memes and questions

So I'm gonna answer one.

Learning
Do you remember learning to read? What’s your earliest reading memory?

I learnt to read in two separate times. Actually, I don't remember not knowing how to read (as in understand the words, not being able to read them aloud): my memories before I was 4 are almost none-existent. And what I remember from early childhood is mostly books I've read, music I've heard and games I've played at the time. Basically, I read everything I could put my hands on, mostly children's books (since they were conveniently placed in the lowest shelves) and manga and comics (since they were in another bookcase and I had an easy access to it). I had a big preference for the visual encyclopedia and illustrated educational books though, and comics.

Learning to read aloud was another story though and it's blurry in my mind, but my father told me about it and it's quite funny. So, at the time, the teachers used the whole language approach (vs phonics). At first it seemed like I had no difficulties (and I remember having no difficulties to read aloud compared to my classmates), but my father discovered that it was trickier than that XD

He told me that once he randomly asked me to read to him a lesson we had done like a few months ago, and I couldn't. Which puzzled him because I could answer any question about the text (I could understand it, I just couldn't read the words aloud. You know, like knowing a kanji, its meaning but not how to pronounce it) and I could read the recent lessons without any difficulties, as if I really knew how to read.

Then, he made me read every lesson I had done, from the recentest to the oldest and discovered that I hadn't really learnt to read. I was merely memorizing the lessons by heart and reciting them, so as long as he didn't go back too far, I could recite them perfectly.

After that, when he was getting back from work, he taught me the phonics and it took me about one week to memorize them and eventually being really able to read. Ah, my memory was such a great sponge at the time XD

And also, since I'm speaking about books, here for the next part of my writing assignment.

Chapter 4: Finally...

The reading room is beautifully decorated: armchairs as far as the eye can see, I see they are of every colors: blue, red, green... But also, the lights come from purple-red lamps. I can even seat down, I can't decide which I should seat in. Everything seems so beautiful. Well, I'm going to use the farthest one, it seems perfect.

"It's 7pm, the library closes, please proceed to the exit, thanks."

Already 7pm! My mom is worried, I need to go home. I'll maybe go to the counter to check the book out. Anyway, I have to get out fast. I'm at the G [section of the library]. Fast! F... E... D... C...B... A. Ouch! A door! I lift my head and see on the door I just knock my head on: a notice "exit" on it. Phew, I'm out before the closure.

The book: Virus L.IV.3, I don't like it very much. During the book, the science-fiction becomes a police investigation but also love: at a point, Allis [main character and narrator] throws herself in Lund's arms. But usually, I love reading because I find that the scenarios that catch my eyes are really fascinating, but this, I don't know if one day, I will read it to the end. At least, I got a small preview. Here's the house. Ah!!! Now that I think about it: when exiting the library, I was too eager to get out and forgot to borrow the book!!!

OMG! What the hell with the last paragraph. Anyway, I think I meant: I usually love reading, because I've never dislike a book whose scenario caught my eyes in the first place. Geez, this is so awkward and an awfully clumsy writing XD Anyway, only the epilogue left o/
