Turkey denies the genocide happened. A lot of countries, including the US, recognize what happened as a tragedy, but don't use the term 'genocide' because of relations with Turkey.
However, here's some promising recent news:
Thousands Sign Turkish Apology To Armenians. Yes, it's nothing more than an online petition- not even a petition, as it's not asking for anything- but to me the voices of the nation (and likely young voices, since this is online) apologizing means a lot, because it is an indicator of where the future is heading.
