not about the Super Bowl

Technically, we had a Super Bowl party. What we in fact did, well...

One of our friends (Medievalist Friend) has just acquired a new broadsword. One of our OTHER friends (actually, my co-author on the World of Warcraft article!) has several swords, and theatrical combat training. So what we ended up having was a party in which we went outside and ( Read more... )

That sounds like my kind of Super Bowl party! Not that I would actually have one of those, or watch that, so in fact, it would just me my kind of party, period, without the Super Bowl part at all... *end ramble mode*

However, I unfortunately cannot seem to get in any way excited about the Avengers movie. Perhaps if I'd seen Thor or Captain America... (I have seen the Iron Man movies)

Yeah, it was sort of like..."We have swords. We should have a party." "Hey, it's Super Bowl weekend! No wonder all the snack food is on sale." "Are we having a Super Bowl party?" "Well, we can turn the game on and then go hit each other with swords."

I am excited, because it is Joss Whedon, who is responsible for so many of my favorite things. On the other hand, I'm kind of nervous, because Joss and big-budget Hollywood spectacles have never gotten along. So...fingers crossed. (You should at least see Captain America! I was really happily surprised; I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was.) Also, sirona_gs has made me write Coulson/Hawkeye AND Steve/Tony comment!fic this afternoon. (Maybe I should post those over here?) So there's that. :-p

Tomorrow, then! After I clean them up a bit and maybe give them titles. Don't let me forget, though. :-)

This is a perfectly acceptable way to spend a Super Bowl. I, however, spent it at my friend's parents' house eating way too much food and praying for the score to work out so I would win money from my coworkers.

(PS, it did. Twice.)

:D

Hey, that's probably more productive than ours! Because now you have money, which is always a good thing. (We definitely did the too-much-food thing, too, though. Mmm, twice-baked potatoes.) :-)

Sounds like a lot of fun! Yay!

As for the Avengers trailer, I saw it posted on Tumblr (multiple times). Then about 30 minutes later, a RL friend IM'd me to say there had been a trailer. I had to chuckle and explain that online fandom is incredibly efficient about posting links to that kind of stuff and I had already seen it. FANDOM ROCKS.

More fun than watching the actual game, anyway! (I realize that's probably blasphemy to some people, but I've just never really seen the point of football...)

And yes, yes it does. And then your friends make you write fic. Based on a TRAILER. Gosh. :-p
